Lauren Ashlyn in "No Man's Land"

Here it is! Below is the description, followed by my own self-critiques/reflections:

Lauren Ashlyn in "No Man's Land"

On a mission towards discovering new frontiers, a group of space  travelers have crash landed onto a distant planet. Desperate for help,  they make their way towards any sign of civilization. Unlucky for them,  this planet's dangers are on a scale much larger than their own. An  unsuspecting Lauren Ashlyn wreaks havoc on the tiny explorers, not even  noticing most of them. However, when she does notice them, she mistakes  them for bugs, crushing them out of their earthly existence. Grossed out  by this newfound infestation, Lauren makes her way outside to smoke,  when she hears the strangest noise. Following it through, Lauren comes  across a tiny spaceship at her feet. After picking it up and inspecting  it for a second, she notices a strange glow down by the water. Putting  the spaceship down, Lauren bends down to inspect the tiny beings, when  she is barraged by gunfire. Initially scared, she backs away until  realizing that their bullets are having no effect. As the tiny invaders  continue shooting, she has had enough of them, and smashes them with her  hand. Intrigued by the strange glow, she reaches down...

The  video flashes forward into an unknown present, where we find Lauren  collecting tiny beings and boxing them up into prepackaged gifts, but  for what purpose?

Video contains: Booms/Shakes, Screams, Unaware, Aware, POV, Shoe Crush, Hand Crush, Butt Crush, Entrapment, No Dialogue

Self-reflection...

The Positives:

- I really like the "aura" of Lauren's presence in the beginning/introductory outdoor section of the clip. She feels really big to me, so I'm pretty happy with that as the precursor to the clip.

- The grass walking shots! I tried a new editing technique with this one, and I think that it works well.

- Although it can certainly be one of my detriments as well, I am thankful that I went into this video with ambition to try some new things.

- I think there are a lot of nice POVs in this clip, where Lauren is serving some nice/menacing looks.

- I also give her a lot of credit for making her first fetish video. In the past, she had only dabbled in more normative ventures.

Self-Critiques:

- As I mentioned before, I think Lauren and I went into this one with a little too much ambition, and I think it would have been better if we found ways beforehand to reign it in a little bit. The original plan for this video was for her to transport to a miniature city, or a miniature road, but we simply ran out of time. Thankfully we were able to coordinate a re-shoot in order to add that last part.

- Since the video was so ambitious, there are a lot of parts that I worry don't "track" or provide proper stakes. This might have been a better video if we had planned out dialogue, or better ways to translate certain things to viewers without needing discourse.

- Less is more. I think that rather than all of the crushes and such that were included in this video, it would have better if there were only a few people, but that each one had lots of drama and suspense.

Comments

Yay! I'm so thankful you liked it! And I'm also thankful to be improving! Haha. It's cool that a fair amount of people have commented on Lauren's demeanor, or as you put it, cold, ambiguous, mysterious and dispassionate, because I was wondering if it would translate. When you spend so much time on anything, whether it's writing or any kind of art form, it becomes really difficult to separate yourself from how it will be perceived by people who didn't see the whole process through. So I'm glad the reception has been positive. Thank you for always keeping in touch throughout!

BEAUTIFULLY done!! Some of those shots in the grass left me seriously floored; your ability to convey scale somehow manages to improve every single video and it was already damn impressive to begin with. Loved the cold, dispassionate atmosphere to Lauren - which I think the lack of dialogue enhanced because it made her actions mysteriously and ambiguously cruel. I also thought you nailed the pacing and I was engrossed from start to finish. Well done!
