So, Shu Yi went to America to visit as a surprise and saw Shi De at the park with the random blonde and a baby. When he got back home afterward, he had the fight with his father where his phone got confiscated. In flashbacks at the start of the episode it showed Shi De was not getting any responses from Shu Yi even though he had attempted to text him many times; that was because the phone line was paid for by his dad and kept active, so when Shu Yi got a new phone he had to get a different number too. He probably didn't attempt to text Shi De from the new phone likely because he was mad and/or he thought Shi De had decided to cut contact/move on since he also wasn't getting any e-mails. During the scene in Shi De's office where they realized that the dad had been deleting the e-mails from Shi De on Shu Yi's side (via his confiscated phone) there was a part that got cut out for some reason in which Shi De explained that the blonde girl at the park was Ashley, his mom's new husband's daughter. Also their friends Zhe Yu (the carrot) and Bing Wei (the donkey) are together, that's why they're always matching (which I'm so happy you noticed because I love that detail). Zhe Yu just likes to tease Bing Wei/give him a hard time sporadically to keep him on his toes. Shu Yi was just warning Zhe Yu to not go too far because Bing Wei could decide to stop putting up with his antics. Wall of text, oops. I love this series so I'm glad you're enjoying it. [:

Then his mum got sick. By the time he did return to Taiwan two years later, Shu Yi's dad had found out about him and intercepted him.
