In the beginning of the first episode, the landlord comes out arguing with Young-Woo's dad. He says "I took pity on you for being a widower." Could be a mistranslation or only what her dad told others but it has been said.

Young Woo's father called himself "a single father," but I think that spoke more to how he raised her than to what happened to her mother. And Young Woo doesn't seem to think that her mother died either--in this episode she said that her mother abandoned her, and it's clear from the whale hunting analogy that she doesn't think dying is the same as abandonment.

Child Woo Young Woo from ep 1 was played by the same child actress as the one that played Ha Ye-sol, Yeon-jin's daughter. It was kind of crazy seeing a familiar face after I had watched The Glory and rewatched Attorney Woo LOL
