While most of his films are considered masterpieces, they are often very dark and violent(It messes with the viewer's heads) Even though his works are highly acclaimed for their artistry they didn't always attract a huge audience. But The Handmaiden actually pulled in 4.28 million audience even with its R rating! Thank you so much for this :D
