Palace of Smokeless Fire - test build v0.01 (now available for Patrons of the Firm)

I’m thrilled to announce the very first test build of Palace of Smokeless Fire. The goal of this build is to introduce the general gameplay. I’ve built a system that (to me) feels very fun to play and is easy for me to create many expansion-kink-themed minigames within it. I hope you like it as much as I do.

There are some known bugs to the game, the biggest one being that sometimes the transport serpent will drop you off in the exact same spot instead of where she’s supposed to take you. If this happens just talk to her again and it should work. Also the inventory screen is extremely unpolished and I plan to pretty that up as soon as I am able, but it is functional.

Not sure if you found it but in that build, Sophia can get a gimmick attack based on burping.

Was fun! Can't wait for more/full release just to get to know the character and setting more. Idk if it was a gag but after you drink the fizzy liquid it says "Sophia is a better burper" or something. Will her burping be something that affects the story or gameplay? (crossing my fingers)

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! If you examine the hole that Myra climbs into after she leaves there is another cutscene there.

I have finished the demo and enjoyed a lot so far, is there another cutscene other than the one eating the pie and drinking the fizzy fountain ?

Thanks for the feedback. I need to increase the stop distance the enemies have with the player so they get just close enough to attack you without pushing you. If you fall out of the map there should be an invisible plane that warps you back to the beginning.

I went through the green doors after the feast, and got perma stuck behind the door out of bounds after the enemies hit me in the next room

Ooo, that's a new bug that I haven't run into. My guess is it has something to do with Unity's character controller component (the wonkiness of which seems to have caused many bugs like this). How often does this happen?

Love it! However, had a pretty issue where the sound for landing on the floor after jumping would play rapidly (which was ear grating) and I couldn't jump while this sound was playing. Makes me think the player is frequently getting stuck in a state between the air and floor.
