"I was told growing up that if we were to ever venture out of the Sanctuary, we would be wise to stay away from the resting grounds of these giant mechanical...things. We were lucky to salvage what we could from the ones with no active lights, meaning they were totally dead. The ones that do have lights? Just their mere presence scares a lot of people. I've heard they growl and roar when you get close, and even make an effort to move and make themselves fall on you. Whatever they are, they don't like people. They don't seem to have a power source, yet they've been on for decades.
Rukus told me these things seemed to have spontaneously appeared the night the Exodus Event happened and tried to exterminate us. The scary part, he told me, was that they were apparently built by Aerok; our people. I still don't know what this means, but to this day it has him shook. Dee won't budge about the topic either. Any whisper puts her on edge. Whatever the case, these things can't hurt us anymore. They've done their damage, yet seem hungry to do more. Rukus told me my dad faced down one of them. He doesn't know what happened to him after.
I know I'm one to talk about laughing in the face of danger and exploring everything the world has to offer, but I've yet to bring myself close to any of these metal monsters. Whatever happened to leave them in an immobilized state, I'm glad it did."

It was very cathartic to finally make use of the Colossus design in a serious piece. Hell I'm glad to finally give another lense into the Rekindled world (the project with my bird characters). I've still a long ways to perfecting landscape art but I hope y'all like it!

There's something almost peaceful about them sitting so long as they become part of the environment, lulling you into a false sense of security... Really amazing work on this ❤️
