Brothers and Sisters and Siblings of the Lucent Priory,
It's been quite the week. For everyone who's been paying attention in the Discord server, you know that the game has been un-indexed for some kind of regular review at itch.io for almost a week now, so it's been very difficult getting the word out there. I'd like to thank everyone who has gone to rate and comment on the game on itch.io and spread the word to friends who like this kind of stuff. Hopefully, itch.io gets it together soon and makes the game discoverable again.
In any case, despite this headache, development has been going very well. Here are some things that I've been doing this week:
The Rehan date is now fully written, animated and functional. I liked it so much once it was done that I had to go back and revise some older dates, which leads me to point two...
Soren's and Ciaran's dates have been revised and expanded upon. Based on Rehan's date, I wanted the player to come to know their dates more intimately, so a few things were added with that in mind.
Luca has been completely redesigned and the new design integrated into the game (the sprite specifically, some CGs still need to be updated). Our newly-minted twunk is now prettier than ever.
Some animated CGs were added to Chapter One. More are to come as I'd like the game direction to keep switching between sprites on backgrounds to fully animated CGs of characters (like the ones in all the dates).
The image assets for the blacksmith scene have been created but not animated yet.
More typos and inconsistencies have been fixed throughout Chapters One and Two.
Plans for next week:
Luca's date is next up.
Jude will be redesigned (mostly due to some stylistic issues with the sprite) and shown to Scribes and Cantors next week. Then I'll integrate him into the game as well.
Write and animate the blacksmith scene.
Replace Luca's CGs from Chapters One and Two and add an animated one to Chapter One.
Hopefully, the week after next will be the final week of dealing with the dates, which have definitely taken more dev time than any other scenes in the game. After that, I will go full steam ahead on the final stretch of Chapter Two, and hopefully have the full chapter out to you patrons shortly.
