These were taken with Maggie in 2018 during my first trip to Seaside/ Astoria Oregon. Cheyanne and I tried to go to the same place to shoot but it rained so heavily we took a few indoor photos and got out of there quick. The many trips with Maggie to Oregon, but particularly our Jan 2021 one, cemented in her mind that this was a place she wanted to live as an adult.
When I told her last week I made up my mind to move there in the first half of next year she cried, but it seems like she's settled into the idea and how it can actually benefit her in the long run. Without getting too deep into our family dynamics - Maggie living with me in Oregon is something I can now visualize was always gonna happen. It just takes the months and years to move in the direction.
Also, looking at these photos now, and what Cheyanne and I did on our two trips there, I can sort of see what kind of artist I'd be in that kind of environment vs. what I do in the Southwest. It's definitely more atmospheric/ ethereal/ mystical. You can match your mood to the space whereas in forever-bright Arizona, I don't feel like my soul could really relax and just feel and breathe in the same way...
