Hello patrons! I wanted to share something I started a couple weeks ago- in fact I thought I might finish it in a few days- but it's turned into something a lot bigger, so I'm saying end of August. Maybe.
It's an animated short film about a true-life, incredibly brilliant activist artist named Phil Ochs had a steady decline and tragic end. Here's the first 2 minutes of it- I'll probably have to animate another cutaway scene to make this more exciting to watch.
To give you a sense of what you're watching, these 2 minutes focus on a hotel interview where Phil is in an "alter ego" Train who claims he murdered Phil. The following 16 minutes will flash back to Phil's life up that point, when we return to Train in 1975 for a greater understanding of what ties together art, politics, emotions and depression.
Really I just wanted to make a "Yellow Submarine" for one of my heroes. If this works out, Man Ray or Dali are next! Let me know what you think!
