Welcome back Fellow Darkish!
The waters of the lake glimmer like a slab of blackened steel, silent and unbroken.
But the tales of the vanished—and the crimson marks staining its shores—whisper of a far darker truth.
What ancient terror stirs beneath those lightless depths?

MAP DESCRIPTION
Lakeside Haven is a camp located by a lake.
A simple stone wall surrounds the few houses of the holding, made up of a handful of thatched-roof cottages.
Behind the houses, a small but sturdy pier makes it easy to unload the day’s catch or goods coming from nearby villages.
The few locals seem to live a simple life, based on fishing and the harvest from the land around the houses.
In the air, you can smell the scent of fish set out to dry, mixed with a sharp smoke coming from the large central bonfire.
Just behind the bonfire, sheltered among the stones of the wall, an ancient-looking stone altar, covered in fragrant, gleaming moss, depicts a minor deity or spirit.
Is this the deity worshipped in the village, or has the statue been there long before the settlement itself?
NOTES
Lakeside Haven is a large map that allows wide-ranging battles and offers a dynamic, interesting battlefield for a large number of characters.
The Village: The main point of interest on the map. Whether you’re tasked with saving it from monsters or bandits, or defeating its very inhabitants, the multiple entrances and the surrounding lake will offer many interesting angles to enrich your encounters.
The Statue: The figure carved in stone appears feminine and holds a small bowl of water with a delicate hand, facing those who stand before it. In front of it, a small concave rock holds water that seems to be the same as in the statue’s bowl. Is this special water? What secrets does that mysterious figure hide?
Blessings: The statue might offer small buffs if approached correctly, perhaps granted through the special water in its bowl.
Divinations: In the water set in the stone basin at the statue’s feet, mysterious images might appear for players to interpret.
The Pier: The mooring place for boats, great for quickly moving goods to the village center. Smugglers would certainly find a settlement like this interesting.
The Lake: Beyond being a source of food, water, and fortune, a lake can hide many dangers. The village might need adventurers willing to deal with overly aggressive monsters.
Famous Monsters: The lake is large, deep, and its waters are extremely dark. Famous lacustrine creatures like kelpies—or the famed Nessie—could dwell in its depths.
