City Street [22x16]

Welcome back Fellow Darkish!

This charming intersection, brimming with life and bustling shops, is the perfect place to relax and stock up before your departure. Or at least, it was, until a scream cut through the cheerful chatter of merchants and pedestrians.

Before you can figure out what happened, you spot a hooded figure slipping away suspiciously, the glint of a blade disappearing beneath their cloak.

How will you act?

MAP DESCRIPTION:

City Street is a lively shopping district, full of merchants’ calls and the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The air is filled with the scent of freshly baked bread and ripe fruit, and the street is surprisingly clean and well-maintained.

Stalls offer a variety of goods—fruit, meat, bread, and everyday items—making this a perfect spot for adventurers looking to gather supplies before heading out.

Blending in with the common folk, you might even catch sight of well-dressed wealthy merchants conducting business near the warehouses and shops.

Beside the bakery stall, there’s a small but thriving shop ready to provide you with goods you won’t find elsewhere in the district.

Right in front of the shop, you’ll find a balcony above a tavern—an ideal spot for enjoying a pint of ale while keeping an eye on the square below.

It’s also quite handy if you’re looking to keep track of any unusual activity.

NOTES

Welcome back, Fellow Darkish!

Here’s the first map of the year: the brand new City Street!

This map joins our Central City Series, offering a smaller, easily set-up map perfect for quick and unexpected combat encounters!

We love large maps that showcase the richness of the setting, like Adventure Alley, but we’ve been really appreciating this more compact format.

It feels incredibly versatile and works well for both online players and those meeting in person, especially when setting up large maps can be tricky—particularly at the lower levels, where battles tend to be shorter and it can be helpful to use multiple maps in a single session.

What do you think?

Do you prefer larger maps, or are you enjoying this format?

Let us know your thoughts and feel free to leave feedback in the comments!

Your opinions are always invaluable to us.

That’s all for this map, Fellow Darkish!

We’ll be back very soon with the second map of January!

As always, we wish you thrilling adventures and NAT20s,

The Darkest Maps Team

True masters of the craft. I really love how you use perspective here and it makes me feel like I'm in a cramped and crowded city. Another excellent map!
