Welcome back Fellow Darkish!
The stone glistened under the sun, and the sound of water merged with the jungle’s cacophony surrounding the walls.
The dungeon might have seemed like a beautiful ancient ruin, but the traps scattered everywhere revealed its true, deadly nature.

MAP DESCRIPTION:
The grand Jungle Trap Dungeon is a complex, square-shaped maze with chaotic corridors spanning multiple levels.
The first colonnaded hallway opens up to a series of bridges filled with deadly traps.
Spiked rollers to jump over, swinging axes, arrow-shooting mouths, and spike-filled pits blocked the way.
The slits in the walls along the path could house various types of monsters ready to attack anyone attempting to pass through the Dungeon.
The path winds through the traps to a lever that opens the ancient doors leading beyond the dungeon.
The Dungeon’s structure suggests it was built to represent a challenge, a test of skill, or a rite of passage.
The walls and door are completely covered in intricate decorations, whose beauty lends an air of solemnity to what would otherwise be a bare trap.
Who built the Jungle Trap Dungeon and why? What prize awaits beyond the doors?
To find out, you must survive.
NOTES
Jungle Trap Dungeon is a complex arena that adds countless environmental interactions to your battles.
The arrow-shooting mouths on the wall might attack one or more times during the turn, making positioning crucial.
From the opening in the wall at the top left, a large stone boulder might roll down each turn, dealing significant damage to anyone in its path.
Falling into the water might sometimes be a good way to survive and escape a trap or enemy.
Stone ladders protrude at strategic points to allow climbing out of the water.
Passing traps like the swinging axe and spiked roller might require a Dexterity Check.
An indefinite number of monsters might emerge from the wall slits, possibly suited to crawl within the dungeon walls.
The dungeon entrance could be the Jungle Temple map.
Jungle Trap Dungeon is the winner of the October Poll! It took us a while to design, but we are very satisfied with the result.
We aimed to recreate the atmospheres of games like Tomb Raider or Crash Bandicoot, with warm colors and geometric shapes, along with the typical traps found in their levels.
Snake men, a tribe of Tabaxi, or any creature you prefer could be the race whose gods or traditions inhabit these dungeons, greatly varying the map’s narrative possibilities.
We are really curious to know how you would use the Dungeon, whether as a trial to overcome or a simple maze guarding something precious or dangerous!
That’s all for now, Fellow Darkish.
We’ll read each other very soon for the second map of this month!
As always, we wish you great adventures and NAT20,
The Darkest Maps Team
