We return to the Dieselpunk setting of Tyrodas where the West Empire of Kalcyria and the Paralaesian National Coalition have fought a stalemate war for as long as the history books can recall. Although there are also a scant number of “independent” vassal states that have retained some degrees of autonomy.
Within the small Empire vassal state of Elkorad, the industry workers have fought a long fight for better labor conditions with very little success and the on-going battle is looking like it will go down in favor of the wealthy industrialists once more. But one of the union leaders isn’t ready to let them win without one last plea to their sense of humanity. And to “his” surprise the factory owner welcomes him to a final negotiation. Unfortunately it’s all a ruse.
The factory owner reveals that there’ll be no more negotiations and that the union leader will be disposed of, as he pushes our eggtagonist into a large vat of volatile oil. The same oil that humans have extracted from underneath the earth for hundreds of years. Unbeknownst to either of them however, long -time exposure to the exhaust, fumes and direct contact with this red-sheened oil has had curious effects on humanity that only recently started to manifest in obvious ways. Scant reports of mutations have been seen in newspapers but very little has been established as facts.
As the union leader fights to stay alive, the overwhelming saturation of oil around him ignites his latent mutations and he feels vigor and vitality energize him as he starts changing underneath the surface of the oil vat. It’s like a dream is realized while his body quakes and warps into what “he” now knows it should have always been like.
The vat blows up and from its greasy carcass rises a gorgeous woman with slit pupils, glowing irises, sharp long ears and talons for nails. The sight strikes the factory owner in awe before the lady walks up to him and uses her true powers to instill some long overdue respect for his workers into him…
A year later and the factory is the safest and most productive in all of Elkorad. The factory owner still rus the show, but for some reason, all his decrees and proclamations of change are announced in a slow and trance-like manner. And no matter where he went, he was accompanied by an imposing and dominant lady who people occasionally noticed whispered in his ears.
[Stolen Skies Dieselpunk Setting, human male to female mutant siren, mild corruption themes]
---
This one got a little out of hand in regards to size, which is why it took pretty long to make. It was very fun to work on though and I'm gonna go ahead and add some more info about this setting, but right now it's pretty late and I just wanted this up before I go to bed.
Will update with more stuff tomorrow though <3
[Lore Drop]
Now that I've had some rest and time, I think it's time to drop some lore on this setting. Most of it is in the new Map picture added to this post, but here are some A's to the Q's I haven't answered yet.
Q: What is The War fought over?
A: Victory. The War has gone on for so long that neither side knows what it was about originally. It could just as well have been what the Continent should be named, Kalcyria or Paralaesia?
Q: Which side is strongest/will win?
A: Both the Empire and the P.N.C. are basically equal in strength and resources and neither side will win.
Q: What's the deal with the red oil?
A: No one knows for sure. But also it's just a macguffin to allow for weird stuff to happen, like being turned into a mutant babe, like Nessie here.
Q: Does the oil change everyone's sex?
A: No, Nessie was already partially mutated before being kicked into it. The oversaturation just kicked it into full gear.
Q: Which side is the "good" and "evil" side?
A: Both are just awful, but most of the civil worker class is good at heart regardless of where they're from.
Q: What's the LGBTQ policy of the Empire and the Coalition?
A: Tyrodas doesn't have a long history of LGBTQ oppression like our world does, LGBTQ people are just as normal and common as snow is on Tyrodas. The Empire does however legally require a certain number of healthy babies to be born each year to replenish the troops, so occasionally people might be assigned the job of helping out with that.
Q: Is there a border-crossing conspiracy between the wealthy capitalist elites to make sure that the war goes on in perpetuity, for profiteering purposes?
A: No. I find greed to be less interesting in this setting than that the war has just ingrained itself as an inescapable fact of this world. The concept that most people in this world, regardless of class, are just incapable of considering that there could even be an end to the war at all. Sure, they fight for "Victory," but neither side is fighting for peace.
Q: Are there other kein in this world than humans?
A: Only humans and mutants, I'm afraid. But the mutations can definitely give people cool new bodies.
Q: Is there magic in this world?
A: No ;)
