Failure: '__init__' () Empty module name

Over the past two days, I’ve received a flood of identical support requests about one frustrating and misleading startup error. After thorough testing, I’ve confirmed that the issue is caused by Royalty Mod version 3.5.2not by any of my own mods.

If you're seeing an error on game startup that blames one of my mods (such as Object Tuning Replacement, Smart Core Script, Trait Tracker Injector, Injection Tools, etc.) — please do not message me assuming the issue is on my end.

This error is caused by how the Sims 4 engine handles broken script mods. If one mod fails to load, the game often blames the first script in the list, even if that script is working perfectly fine. This is misleading and results in many false reports.

📌 What’s actually happening:

On startup, the game throws an error like:

This means that one of the loaded mods is trying to register a module with an empty or invalid name. When this happens, all script mods stop loading, even if only one is faulty.

💡 What you should do:

My mods have been thoroughly tested and do not cause this error. Please don’t open support tickets for this unless you have concrete proof that the issue is coming from my code.

Thank you for understanding and for your support!

Comments

It is impossible to guess this on your own and right away. That is why logs are so important, from which, although sometimes not so simple, it is still possible to decipher the cause of the error.

Thank you for educating us not so good with mods exactly why I support you! I was Having the issue and deleted the royalty mod now everything is perfect. Never would have figured that out by myself 😂
