The Infested Crypt Battle Map

This crypt had served as the honored resting place of a band of heroes, but now has been infested by some foul intruder. Just how deep does its webbed tunnels go..?

As an Australian, one of my greatest everyday fears is spiders. Whether it's walking through their strong webs on an otherwise peaceful stroll or finding them dangling over my pillow, they will never cease to make me wish I had an IRL Divine Smite for the fiends.

Part of that fear was channeled into this map, which began as a spacious tomb and then evolved into this horrendous nest of evil. The orange glow came later, perhaps because alien insectoids are less scary to me than mundane spiders.

I hope your player characters have a Fireball handy. Tell me, what encounter ideas are coming to mind? Please share them in the comments!

Going to be using this map this week to spice up the "Spiders" encounter in HotDQ. :) Looking forward to it!

I suppose everyone has their method, but I have them broken down into categorical folders - Outdoors vs. Indoors, and then Urban vs. Rural vs. Natural, etc. It helps me when quickly looking for a particular map :)

I may not be the person to ask - these ZIPs are precisely how I do it. xD

I wish we had an example of how the files (these and previous) could, or should, be organized.

And her widow's veil conceals her button eyes?

My inner DM already started generating ideas for this map… a few Alien-esque egg creatures and some homebrew hell-spawn… I think the players will enjoy my next adventure: “A Recipe for Devil-led Eggs”.

Awesome! I like how it breaks out into the tunnels... and how those glowing eggs could hatch out something nasty at any moment!

Totally going to use this as a crypt for my Eberron campaign. I feel like this is a great nest for some dolgrim

"Hello, young adventurers, Could you help me find my late husband's wedding ring? I believe he lost it in the heroes' crypt. I will offer you a handsome reward." Don't you notice the carnivorous smile on this lovely lady's face and that her hands are strange, so fine, very long fingernails...
