A Word of Thanks, and Drawlloween Important Info

Hey there! I just wanna say support EXPLODED after that last comic (certainly know what kind of stuff ya'll like, I'll keep that in mind ;) ) and I'm incredibly grateful.

That said, I know this month has been a little, well, dry. I do apologize for that. It's not fair to any of you and I understand any frustration. I wanna take a minute to explain myself a little there, tell you exactly what's happening this week, and go into more detail about Drawlloween for people who don't know or want to know what benefits there will be for the month of October specifically.

First of all, doing that two page comic really took a big chunk out of the first half of the month, sorry about that. I am happy with it now that it's done, but short of that bundle of sketches, I haven't been able to buckle down and do other stuff. I've been working on an overdue picture for a client that i promised to have done before October as well. In addition, preparing for Drawlloween has taken a LOT of my time as well, since I'm making sure to watch and review EVERY possible movie to ensure there's nothing offensive or offputting.

Today (Monday), I intend to buckle down and do the last two OC Requests. That leaves Tuesday, Weds, and Thurs to work on back to school art and I'm confident i can get at least one pic done within that time, tho I make take Thursday off as my last chance to rest before October. Torn between Embyr and the Cheerleaders or Aesirko and the Parent/Teacher meeting, but we'll see.

Drawlloween

For those who don't know, maybe you're new, every year I do a special event called Drawlloween. Hell of an event too. In October, I follow a calender and stream every single day, completing one themed illustration each day. That's 31 full illustrations. It's pretty insane. Now, sometimes I have to do a simpler coloring style or otherwise simplify things for time and health reasons, BUT, I've fully completed the calendar for the past 4 years and this year I plan to be no different.

In addition to the art, we watch horror/horror-adjacent movies that ALSO go along with the theme of the day. Now, to be clear, I am a huge horror fan, but I understand that a lot of people coming are either new to horror or horror genuinely scares them, whatever. I want you to know we welcome those people, we love you, we appreciate you. The movies I choose fall into the demographic of what I'd call either 'fun' or 'interesting'. No torture porn, no supergore flicks. I am thinking of including a Content Warning for some movies (For instance, we're watching Midnight Meat Train this year, which has a lot of eye trauma specifically), but I'm not sure the best way to implement it yet. In addition, if you're sensitive to animal death, we have mods SPECIFICALLY sat on DoesTheDogDie.com which, if you don't know, is a comprehensive list of what animals die in movies and when, and they will put out a WARNING in chat before it happens, and then inform people when the scene in question is over.

The point of this event is not to make people uncomfortable, it's to have fun and introduce my fans to a genre I deeply enjoy and care about during everyone's favorite spooky season. :)

I cannot promise anything here. 31 illustrations in one month is a LOT of work and the thought of doing more on top of it is, just...Whew. That said if I DO find time, energy, and motivation to do extra sketches or otherwise, obviously you all will still get to see that first.

$10 tier

I am probably not going to be a full comic from scratch, but I may be poking away at the Vitalimon inked comic I've been working on in the bg. Newer supporters might not know but in addition to those sketchier comics, I have a higher res, inked comic I'm working on that has 1 page done, second page sketched, and at least 2 more pages planned. It's something I like to work on sometimes at night, bit by bit.

$20 tier

So I've talked about this a lot, but I'll reiterate here: OC Requests as we know them will not be active in October. HOWEVER. As you may know, during Drawlloween I will sometimes raffle off prey slots in these Drawlloween pics for the chat. It's a fun element of the event (That some people take way too seriously, but hey.) that people enjoy.
So, instead of OC Requests, what's gonna happen is on Sept 30th, I'm going to make a post for you all to put an OC (or character) as well as some specifics I'm gonna ask for about your prefs, and I'm gonna pick a bunch of those to put into Drawlloween pics in the main slots I would normally raffle off. You will be chosen based on your prefs and what fits the scene. I'll pick AT LEAST 4 as normal, but may choose more.

After Drawlloween...

Things go back to normal! However, traditionally I take 2 weeks off in November to recuperate. This year I'm thinking of pushing them back from the beginning of the month and just clenching my teeth and keeping going cause SOME COMPANY decided their critically acclaimed MMO's expansion should release in the second half of the month and I'd really love to be able to just fuckin...Dig into that hard. We'll see.
