The Desert Oasis, Revised!

I've learnt enough since I started the Desert Oasis map that I wanted to try a paint-over today, and what do you know, I am very pleased with the result! Though still much more abstract than my established style, this one has much more detail, plus I much prefer its colors and forms. I think it's a far superior battle map to version one.

I haven't said so anywhere yet, but I'm actually going to Japan again for next month! Besides all the sightseeing, I'm going to work "on the road," and I'd like to use it as an opportunity to practise this painterly style further. It will save me carrying pencils and paper, untie me from a 7-Eleven (200 DPI) scanner, and allow me to draw from wherever I put my bags down.

The other option is for me to bust out some line art before I leave, which is also perfectly doable. Hmm, what do you think? Regardless, thank you all for being so supportive!

Definitely better than the 1st version, but I still prefer your art with lines. In time, your new lineless style will grow on me.

That's a good idea!

Also, I plan to use your lineless maps for illusory terrain and such--so a desert oasis was a great starting point!

Holy buckets, that was fast! I like the second version--more detailed--and congratulations on going to Japan! Maybe you'll see some Japanese castles while you're there, hint hint ;)

Beautiful to look at, but as others have pointed out, the lines really do help for VTT. Keep up the good work!

I prefer your line art style, more effective for rpg tabletop gaming.

I like it a lot. The only thing I made say is to have a little more detail depth. For VTTs, tokens and background will be larger, making it look blotchy kinda.
