Accordant Box (single- and multi-material)

Ahoy-hoy wonderful people!

Proportions, shapes and textures are a big part of what I love about 3D printing design, and some models show that more clearly than others - like this one!  Those corner curves that correspond to the strut widths, the satisfying fit of the lid into its recess, and of course the repetitive texture of those side panels.  It might be a storage box, or it might just be something to fidget with, I'm not entirely sure :)

Now, this one was created originally to test out some multimaterial hardware, which is why it's split into a bunch of different files for that kind of printing.  However, it works just as well as a single-colour print, and a set of files is provided for that very purpose.

Print Description

This is a regular mode print designed for straightforward printing.  Level of infill won't make a big difference, since the print will mostly be perimeters!

The multimaterial version is intended for systems like the Mosaic Palette, Prusa MMU and Bambu AMS that allow multiple filaments within a print.  I'm going to assume that if you have one of these you already know what to do with the files!

Print Dimensions

The main body occupies 58mm x 58mm on the print bed and is 60mm tall.

Supports Needed?

Not at all!  Designed for straightforward printing!

Scalability

This will scale happily up or down, though you might eventually need to adjust the scale of the lid so that it still fits neatly!

Print Orientation

The main body and lid both print right-way-up, like so:

Further Thoughts

Don't forget the wonders of filament swapping in getting some neat colour change effects!  The lid in particular is well-suited to some timely swappery, perhaps to colour the inside of the dots, and then the panel handle.

Happy printing!

xoxo

Sven.
