The Fixer Jar

Hi, wonderful people! :D

It's no surprise to anyone that I like assemblies!  This box is made up of an arbitrary number of segments attached to each other via guiding elements on the top and bottom of each segment, and via big knurled screw retainers that hold the layers together.

Oh, and the lid is a big screw-out thing, too!

The idea behind this one was to allow the box to be arbitrarily tall - just keep adding parts until you're happy!  Or until you run out of filament, I guess.  There's a kind of sci-fi vibe to this one - it fits in neatly with the Operator Box and the Machine Canister.  It's all those sharp lines and geometric textures, I think :)

Printing Tips

This one should be fairly robust in the face of printing issues, but you should still take care with those bottom layers :)

Print orientation for the parts is like so:

File Location

This one's on Dropbox under 805 Fixer Jar.

Dimensions

The flat outer sides of the hexagonal walls are about 112mm apart.

Each of those body segments is about 30mm tall.

Final Thoughts

Hmm, I wonder if I could make a connector that could join some of these together horizontally?... :D

Have fun!

To a degree it should scale well - threaded parts have the advantage of being able to tighten to take up whatever slack there is! Also, being an assembly rather than a print in place model means there's no risk of bits fusing during printing :)

I love it - printer is working. Are the segments scalable?

Haha, I'm not complaining about that! I love seeing your prints! :D

I’m gonna have to try this. I swear my printers only print Clockspring models

It's fantastic to have you here! 😁

Ingenious! So glad I joined! Adding to my print queue.

Hahahaha, you are far too kind! πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜

Soooo sick!!!! Love it so much!!! Elon Musk should get in contact with you, Sven. All of the cool stuff that he will need in Mars is already being designed by you now :) Well done on this one! Once again, an elegant, clever and beautiful design! Did I say that I love it? I LOVE IT!!! πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

I like it! Secret compartment!

Not sure what I'd use this for, but I don't care, I am definitely printing this!

Love this! What about doing a "bottom" piece that also has the ability to stack - essentially adding a floor to a middle piece? I know it takes away from some of the intent but you could use it to implement a false bottom or to create multi-sectioned storage.

Outstanding idea!! Love it!! 😍😍😍
