It's a box! I really do love designing new boxes and containers. This one is old school, no print-in-place fanciness. So, what do I like about these things? Well, boxes are a good avenue for exploring things like texture (I love the feeling of those ridges running vertically down the sides) and proportions (there's something about the relative thickness of those walls to the box dimensions).

Believe it or not, most of the time I spent on this was in deciding how you'd open the box. I wanted an inset lid resting on a shelf, but how would you actually pick the lid up?
I played around with handles, but didn't really like what it did to the overall shape.
I added an overhung rim inside the lid, like the lids you might traditionally find on a cardboard tube, but that wasn't quite right either.
You can see where things ended up - the shelf extends outside the box, and the lid likewise extends outward to match the outside of the box.
This one has thicker walls than some of my boxes, too - it's all about those proportions :)
