VIETNAM, SAPA DAY 2!

To the highest mountain in Vietnam!!

The next day, on April 4th 2025 we planned to go to Fansipan, the highest mountain in Indochina. Before getting ready let’s have breakfast provided by the hotel. The food was delicious and definitely suited the taste of Indonesians. There were many carb options, including fried rice and bread, a variety of fruits, drinks, and side dishes.

Back to the room to rest for a bit and get ready to check out. Still feeling full, so we waited for the food to settle first haha

Around 12:00 PM, we checked out and left our luggage behind since we were heading to Fansipan first. Let’s go!!

Before that, I went to the restaurant from yesterday to pick up my water bottle. Luckily, it was still there.

Here, we started to go our separate ways. Starting from the town square, you can see this building! Yes, it starts from here! Tickets can be purchased through Traveloka, Tiket.com, or Klook. The price is around $45, which includes the round-trip train to the cable car station, round-trip cable car tickets, and the train to the summit (the ticket for going down is separate but can be purchased directly as well).

Once inside, there are plenty of seats to rest and also a cafe. If you follow the signs, you'll find the entrance gate where you can scan your ticket's barcode to enjoy the facilities that were already purchased. OTW CABLE CAR STATION.

In less than 10 minutes, we arrived at the cable car station. It turns out it's really huge here! There are so many places to explore!! This is where we parted ways. I went one way, and they went another haha.

This is where I took photos by myselF

The place is super spacious!! So, we could explore a lot at this station too!!

This place is really huge! If you climb the stairs in the picture above, you’ll find this!!

From here, there’s a gate leading to the cable car, and you can go down the stairs

Don’t forget to scan the barcode again, and you can get help from the staff. It’s already foggy here! Kinda scary, but fun! You should know that each trip lasts about 20-30 minutes!! SUCH A LONG TIME!!! CABLE CAR.

When we reached the top, there was a restaurant, a toilet, and a souvenir shop. And it was super foggy!

I went straight to the toilet first because it was super cold up here! The toilet was also clean.

Let’s head out to the summit!

We just stepped out, and the fog was already this thick! It was around 2:00 PM, typical mountain weather, it changes quickly!

My jacket got completely soaked. But I still gathered the courage to explore and see what’s up there. Unfortunately, we still couldn’t see anything — the visibility was really short. On top of Fansipan Mountain, you’ll find lots of exciting things beyond just the summit! There’s a giant Buddha statue that’s absolutely magnificent, a temple complex that creates a peaceful and calming atmosphere, aesthetic stairways perfect for photos, and the foggy mountain view that’s really cool — it feels like being in a land above the clouds. The journey is also fun because you can take a super long cable car ride, but sadly, the fog blocked any surrounding views. Anyway, aside from the fresh air and incredible views, this place is also perfect for anyone looking to heal while enjoying the unique Vietnamese culture.

Check out the video here to see the crazy fog conditions. FANSIPAN 1.

To reach the summit, you can go via stairs, but I had already bought a ticket for the funicular train earlier. So, let’s give it a try! It’s the same process, just scan the barcode and we’re good to go. In less than 10 minutes, we reached the top!

Up top, the wind was INSANE!!!!! It got even scarier with the fog that just wouldn’t go away! Once we reached the height of 3,143 meters, we were greeted by thick fog and cool air. In the middle of the summit area, there’s a metal triangular monument with the words "Fansipan 3,143m" must-see photo spot.

Unfortunately, the thick fog really limited my ability to see the beautiful mountain views around. At the summit, there’s also a cafe in case you want to warm up inside and grab a snack. And don’t worry, there’s also a toilet up here!

After spending some time at the summit, I headed back down. Since I didn’t buy a return cable car ticket, I bought one directly at the counter for Rp80,000. I just wanted to continue exploring below.

Once I got down, I entered a temple while warming up from the cold wind and fog. I also didn’t forget to buy some sweet potatoes for $1.5 because I was already starving!!

When I was heading back to the cable car station, the weather improved!! You could actually see how beautiful the scenery is!! FANSIPAN 2.

Since it was already late, around 5:30 PM, I headed to the cable car station to go back down. The staff here is super friendly!

And this is my journey down, enjoying the sunset. My friend and I went our separate ways here until we meet again at the hotel later. FANSIPAN 3

Once I got back to the city, I went straight to find food! I WAS SO HUNGRY!! After walking for a while, I found this! The price is around $1.30 - $1.60.

Around 7:00 PM, I arrived at the hotel and was still waiting for my friend to return because we were going back to Hanoi by bus later that night, around 11:00 PM.

What happens next? . .
