I rewatched this movie a couple of times but never noticed the difference you pointed out re. the cop panicking in his own pov after being stung by the needle vs being confident in James' pov!

Enjoyed watching this movie with you especially because I did not see it beforehand. The school teacher, played by Julia Garner....she gained recognition for playing Ruth Langmore in the Netflix crime drama series Ozark (2017–2022), for which she received critical acclaim and won three Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress. It's really good and has an outstanding cast overall. I think you would enjoy watching. I personally would enjoy seeing your reaction to Ozark. I found it to be a compelling crime thriller with unexpected and very intricate plot twists. Each episode gives you a reason to keep watching.

Can’t wait to watch this! I still die for your Haunting of Hill House reaction when Nell was in the car, lol.

My little sister loves horror movies like I do. She's also been a kindergarten teacher for nearly 30 years. This movie just messed her up. She said she was so full of anxiety driving to school in the morning after seeing it. She's over it now but doesn't want to talk about this movie. Ever.
In the theater, the kids attacking the witch was SO loud and I think I was just watching with my mouth wide open. Now when I watch it at home, it's hysterical to me. 😂😂 But for sure looked like Frank in the theater. 😮
Of course Matthew was the bully. The kid whose Dad never said "I Love You"
This town needed Sam & Dean. Those boys would have 'sussed out that witch PDQ. IYKYK
Just FYI, this isn't a true story, they just say that at the beginning. The writer says it inspired by emotional trauma (I think that's the words he used) from his childhood. Poor dude must have had some fucked up shit happen to him as a kid.✌️💖

So, whats interesting, is that when Gladys said Alex's parents have a "touch of the consumption", that is a telltale sign that she is easily 300+ years old. It is a very old way of describing a respiratory illness.
Another interesting note is that the flower broach she wears on her clothing is a "closed" flower when she first arrives at Alex's house in a weakened state, but later, when she is absorbing the life energy of all the kids and the parents, her flower broach is in full bloom. That, in conjunction with the little tree that she uses for witchcraft implies she is some sort of "organic" entity.
Furthermore, all the hints of "parasites" throughout the movie (on Justine's class chalkboard, the Cordyceps documentary Marcus and his partner were watching when Gladys came to their house) adds more evidence to her practicing some form of ancient, parasitic plant-based magic. Her natural hair underneath her wig also looks like Cordyceps strands like shown in that same documentary.
