If billionaires have to exist the LEAST they could do is fund OA, for the betterment of all mankind. I’m pissed all over again.

Mitzi McCoy

Ugh the end of the finale just makes me mad all over again they cancelled it. Especially with Steve jumping too and his “hello Hap” and also WHERE TF is Homer again? So the creators were given the chance to wrap this up with a movie but they turned it down in hopes of a few more seasons. Now six years later, I wish they would’ve at least taken the movie option. Maybe one day. This story has SO much potential.

thank you for helping me clarify the Michelle, Buck, Ian Alexander arc in my mind. I was a step off in the final scene with them

punkrockpollyanna

I need to change Buck to Ian Alexander (thank you Mels.. for the better understanding!) Yes, World 3 or Dimension 3, is the actor world, so it wouldn't be Buck; it would be Ian.

punkrockpollyanna

Shoutout to BBA! The OA did ask us to believe in impossible things and I a l w a y s thought that meant a next season. Thanks Frank, that was a nice rewatch even though I want to send Netflix to jail.

Nicole

really appreciate you bringing the story back to life for us viewers. How did you like the fourth wall break?

Danielle Long

I like that the end is that they jumped into the real world, or very close to it. where Jason Isaacs is Jason Isaacs, a british guy, because in real life he is british. Brit Marling is Brit Marling. Where Brit Marling is the OA. and she remembers. She just doesn't believe, just like Hap said. Where it's all a tv show. it's like the story continues, in real life.

Danielle Long

I'll see if I can find any of the OA video essays I enjoyed... Be back with links if I do!

"There's no nothing after this..............." Welcome to the pain of incomplete OA 😩 There is life after, in rewatches and pondering and video essays and such. There are some very interesting threads on the subreddit (r/TheOA) too! This went by too quick! Thank you so much again for watching this one with us Frank 🙏

So I think Dimension 2 (Season 2) and the next dimension (Dimension 3, S3, the "actor dimension") were blurring together at the end because of the extra power of the D1 five doing the movements. D2 OA was levitating because D3 Brit Marling was being levitated in a stunt –which then goes wrong just as OA and Hap jump from D2 to D3. Brit falls. Steve collapses, meaning he traveled too. Karim is still in D2 but he's at the rose window which seems to be an interdimensional portal. We saw Michelle at that window before; she collapsed when she opened it because she traveled to D3 into Ian Alexander. Buck is still in D1 as far as we know. Ian Alexander can hear Karim because they're a traveler, because they're integrated with Michelle. Ian reaches through the window-portal and Michelle travels back to D2. Hap referring to himself as Jason Isaacs isn't a lie (that would be who he is in D3) and seems to indicate that he's integrated with his D3 version which is interesting –affected by OA's power? I love that Steve catches the ambulance and OA this time, and I love that we end knowing that Hap isn't getting off easy.

melskmelsk

Yeah I've never seen the show before and when he said "I'm Jason Isaacs" I was like EXCUSE ME???? Can't wait for Frank to start season 3 of White Lotus now. I know what we will hear all season.

Eboe Thrasher

When they broke the fourth wall i literally screamed!!! I wish we could have seen this dimension where they are playing a version of the "real world" i cant forgive Netflix for this haha and that quote behind the door always makes me think that the show would have been a loop....going back to the begining aka the crestwood dimension. Such potential we will never experience. I really enjoyed your reqction to thi, THANK YOU 💜

DEEHMON

When Homer remembers/integrates and then BBA realizes it was Steve in her dreams... GOOSEBUMPS ON GOOSEBUMPS

melskmelsk

OBSESSED with Brit's portrayal of Nina in THAT SUIT !! The way Hap's all nervous watching her smoke outside, the way he's not equipped to handle the fully integrated OA and he doesn't fake it well... Love to see that man squirm.

melskmelsk

"That's not Michelle: that's Michelle's shell."

melskmelsk

And now that I'm thinking about parallels as Ruskin talks, he's saying the same things Hap's mentor was saying in S1

melskmelsk

It just struck me that Elodie is like Khatun: a messenger, a guide... Parallel characters like Karim and Rahim (in theory anyway)

melskmelsk

I'm fascinated by the commentary on belief and non-belief... And the way we want to cling on to easy answers (the books in S1, the gas in S2, mental illness across both). Interesting too that we have a much firmer non-believer in Karim this season (who requires a much clearer display of the unbelievable to become a believer). I wonder how that would manifest in S3 and beyond. I WONDER SO MANY THINGGSSSS

melskmelsk

I read that Jason went to dinner with Brit and Zal sometime after it was cancelled. They told him things about S3 and he apparently ran out of the restaurant and screamed awhile on the sidewalk. He's like the biggest OA fan lol I love it

melskmelsk

The frustrating bit and the genius of the the OA is that the show in itself is a puzzle. we get glimpses of the "what the show could have been", knowing enough of the vague plot of season 3, excitement of getting more answers and even more questions. we need the remaining 3 seasons badly. BADLY. Zal and Brit are invested in finishing the story. We have faith. Leave your doors open!!

this ending is so insane and stuck with me for sooooo long the first time i watched. love how season one and two both ended with steve chasing after oa in an ambulance, only this time he was able to reach her!!! this show is so beautiful and strange and i will NEVER forgive netflix for cancelling it 😭 never giving up hope that it will come back somehow someday 🙏 thanks again for reacting to this show!!!!! 💜

I think that Michelle had her essence sucked into World 3 Buck when she was filmed at the Rose Window in World 2. So when Karim had "Buck" come up the ladder, the newly integrated essence of Michelle and Buck jumped into Michelle's formerly comatose body back in World 2. If that makes any sense. haha

punkrockpollyanna

Now you know why we hate Netflix. I can FINALLY tell you that Jason Isaacs (Hap) has said that he would come back to this story, anytime/anywhere. I've been wanting to say all series, but didn't want to spoil if our nemesis made it to the end. If HBO has any sense, they would fund Brit and Zal for anything they want to create AFTER they finish making seasons 3-5 of The OA.

punkrockpollyanna

Being that The OA is (currently, fingers forever crossed) unfinished there's a mountain of unresolved threads and ideas here. On this watch the detail that stuck out to me was Old Night mentioning OA's "brother". It struck me that that "brother" is perhaps Karim AND Rahim, that they are spiritual cousins part of the same design. The names Karim and Rahim (as well as Old Nights true name Azrael) are of Arabic origin, each with Islamic significance. Karim roughly means honour, and Rahim roughly means mercy, both noble traits one could expect of a Protector. Add to that the material influence each character has on OA's life: support on her way to a kind of self actualization. Idk, this train of thought only occurred to me tonight so it's not fully fleshed out, but it feels like there's something there. I hope they get to make more of this one day.

Dylan Schaefer

Same. All my theories, reflections, frustrations etc. could be an essay.

I have too much to say…
