They definitely had a plan for Jesse's story in the planned 5 season arch that unfortunately we didn't get to see. Maybe one day. This episode kills me jesse was so quiet and sweet and reminds me of my friend who I lost in a similar way. 😔 I hate that this is how his story ended i want to believe he did jump and it would've been shown in a later season

so unfortunate

I think that many who seem fine aren't and you only learn about it after the fact, when something like this appears to come out of nowhere. These people were probably the most accepting of him and closest to friends he had and they might have brought light into his life but sometimes that's not enough. Sometimes love isn't enough and people end their lives. It's a sad reality that we think we know people, or that they know we're there for them for anything, but that just isn't enough. I feel like he was losing the only adult he had in his life that cared about him, and he cared about, and probably didn't want to live in that world; all he seems to have known is loss.

Good catch!

I've also had students who came in dirty with ill-fitting clothes. So many people, including fellow teachers, never thought to consider that they don't WANT to come to school that way. There are elementary and middle school teachers that make fun of kids' clothes or complain about body odor. Like, do you really think that is what that child wants?? Yes, sometimes kids are not always careful with hygiene in teen years, but I always wonder -- do they have running water? are they allowed to shower? is there money to buy new clothes that fit? when was the last time they ate? where do they sleep? do they sleep? I have a close friend who grew up in a middle class white family. Her mother would only allow her to wash her hair once a week, and she had oily hair. So, she went to school with really dirty looking hair. That wasn't her fault!! It was neglect. I could go on and on about this. I am so thankful for the people in the world that care enough to help others, like you, Frank.

1:03:49 I feel this, Frank. I felt that way about students sometimes -- school might be the only place they feel safe, get fed, receive a smile, etc. I greeted every student by name at my door every single day. I wanted them to know they were seen and that I was happy they were there. Now, that I'm retired but subbing at the high school, I get to see many of my middle schoolers. It's so heartwarming when they're excited to see me. Conversely, some students have opposite experiences at school where they are bullied, ostracized, and feel unsafe. :(

No matter how many times I revisit this show, I'm still so blown away by the storytelling and the world building and the character development. So many shows just follow the same basic arc and I'm so grateful when truly creative ideas make it through to the world. I'm absolutely loving seeing this fresh through your eyes, Frank.

For sure Hap can't take "no" for an answer..he's too much of a narcissist and has to control everything. As far as I'm concerned he is emotionally immature.
