It didn't hit me and stay with me like The OA did but it's a very intriguing story with strong performances (especially the lead Emma Corrin)

Toronaga learned from that one, didn't he? By hook or by crook, he's not going to let fate put him in that position. You were the perfect stand-in for Toronaga's enemies. Nah, he's playing 5-d chess. One Hiromatsu later... oh, maybe not. It's so perfect!

He says he wants to think about next steps, takes a night and stands alone in contemplation (earlier in episode). It's very much like what the women do and very different than what we see from the other male characters.

She knows what it's like to think and plan ahead to find success and survival -- she's done that her whole life. Therefore, she recognizes what is happening here. That's my interpretation.
