I like how Oscar described Greg ”A butcher with a smile”

LtotheoG

That is so real. They get it from their father

Franklin

good point. i like

Franklin

I don’t know if she could have stayed out of her father’s orbit. If Gil had a successful presidential run she would have been dragged in to Logan’s political scheming. If he lost the race, I think she would have gone back to dad at that point. I think like all the kids she just has too much to prove.

Valaree

Do you all think if Shiv could have committed herself to the political route (with or without Nate) and stepped away from desiring Waystar Royco, would she have been able to find more success and stability? Or do you think the damage done by her childhood and family would have still caught up with her? No way of knowing, but it's something I often think about. I know Nate was also after Shiv sexually/relationship potential, but I think he is one person who really saw and respected her talents. I love when Nate tells Kendall him not being Logan is a good thing. I wish Kendall would really internalize that. Sigh.

Melissa

Kendall has a special relationship with water. Notice that when he’s feeling really low (1. scene of 2x1 or almost dying in the pool by the end of season 3) or really victorious (3x1 in the bathtub and in this episode) there is always water involved ^^ I’ve never heard anything from the showrunner about this but my guess is that water can be a symbol for drawing/death but also for a rebirth or a new start like in a baptism

About Living+ episode: Roman stepping back after Shiv saying that supporting Kendall could damage his image is so ironic. Kendall did it so well at the end that he alone got all the attention and praise. That’s why Roman and Shiv were so pissed at the end. They were so jealous. They can’t stand when one of them is successful. That’s why they always lose. The siblings certainly like each other but the support and the joy you have when someone you love succeeds is just not there. Sadly they only think about their own selfish win…

Grazita Müller

People like that are so difficult to deal with man, Literally exhausting Spot on. Everything from their relationship right there

Franklin

i feel you. I think for me its the feeling of someone actually giving her the time of day, Someone actually valuing what she brings to the table (Even if they're doing it for some of their own selfish interests)

Franklin

so so real

Franklin

facts

Franklin

Right! I always say It’s like Karl came to life the moment Logan died 🥴

Paris Hardy

For all of Logan’s faults, there was not a hint of a lie when he said his children are not serious people, and Roman and Kendall prove it time and time again. Incredibly infuriating!!😭

Two small notes: Love the moment with Connor saying he's going to consult the only person that loves him, Willa. Gerri: how far we've come with the Gerri/Roman dynamic, and her reminder that she has dirt on him and that last line, "I could have gotten you there," is perfection. I love love love Gerri.

The fight scen between Shiv and Tom is such a well-played scene it feels so real

N

That balcony fight = how two actors win an Emmy. INCREDIBLE. it's def one of the best scenes (probably top 3) of the entire series. Without the stellar acting, along with the impeccable writing, this show would be intolerable. It's hard to watch sometimes even with both of those things b/c we're watching people who are so flawed, so corrupt, so broken . . . but human. I never thought I would come to care about any of these people, really. I think I've told the story that I tried to watch this like 2-3 times before I committed to one season (and then I was IN); I was so turned off by those initial episodes, esp that baseball scene in the very first episode. But now, even though I hate a lot of what they do (all of them, not just one), I still feel like I care about them. I want better for all of them. It's hard to see them keep going back to the same toxicity. One of the hardest parts of this season, for me, is also seeing Greg devolve into this pit of vipers. Will always love his relationship with Tom, but he is not very likeable in this season. Kendall pisses me off so much in these episodes & yet there are moments I still root for him to do better, be better. I want Roman to just get the hell out and deal with his pain. He's clearly a sensitive person, but he channels all of his trauma into crass jokes and awful ideology (racism, classism, sexism, etc.). He's not explicitly "manosphere," but I think he does cloak himself in a lot of the toxic masculinity shit to cover for the pain underneath all of it -- another way he emulates Logan. And, then, on some level, I think he probably really is that person: racist, bigoted, etc. Oh, Shiv. It makes me physically exhausted watching her for all of these seasons have to fight fight fight just to be taken a little bit seriously; even then, she's rebuked. It's no wonder she's always angling to keep her options open -- so many people, primarily her own family, have fucked her over and not taken her seriously. Much of that internal pain is then directed at Tom and their relationship. She's been so entitled, selfish, and belittling to him for so long. It's glad to see him push back. Obv, he's not been free of fault, but the majority of their relationship, she has held the cards. His move to ensure his own security (the betrayal of the siblings to Logan) is so Roy-coded. He's learned from watching all of them. Finally, just a shout out to Skarsgard who embodies this tech bro so fully that it makes me cringe. A funeral. An election. Both still looming. I'm sad to be so close to the end, but I'm enjoying this ride with you, Frank. As always, I love your commentary.

Melissa

You should react to "Pride and Prejudice," Frank. You loved "Little Women," and I think you'd also like P&P, especially with Matthew as the lead opposite Keira Knightley. Everything Amanda said. 🎯

Melissa

Idk why but i always loved the plane scene with Shiv and Mattson I like their weird relationship even if I can’t stand Mattson

N

Kendall reminds me so much of one of my old coworkers down to the excited gleam in his eyes then to the wild swing of depressive episodes when things don’t go his way. I can’t . Hope he’s doing well. Shiv & Tom in episode 7 blew me away. It felt like such a culmination of their relationship up to this point. The betrayal, infidelity, cloying power, & desperate inability to love/fulfill one another. Man just a stellar scene. Can’t believe we only have 3 episodes left!!!

Paris Hardy

The stranglehold these writers have on meaningless corporate speak is so real.

Melissa

Not only is the actor who plays Tom British, but he played Mr. Darcy in the favored 2005 Pride and Prejudice (I can’t remember if you’ve reacted to that on here). As many times as I’ve seen and obsessed over that movie, even I didn’t initially know where I knew him from when this came out. He’s a seriously underrated actor. Shiv and Tom’s fight is, to me, the single best scene in this show. (The actor who plays Shiv, Sarah Snook, is also Australian.) I love this final season’s show of grief even in the most fucked-up, rich, white, powerful family. It’s seeping through every pore of their lives. It’s so hard to watch but genius the way they all react. Kendall thinks he’s being progressive with his idea but he’s just coming across as a recycled Logan too stuck in protecting that legacy, Roman is (understatement) way too reactive and willing to sacrifice anything for what he feels in the moment yet is still way too massively stuck in the cycle of needing/wanting approval, and Shiv is taking the side of anyone who will give her approval in the moment no matter what that costs her, trying to undercut her family at the cost of being too much like them. As Tom says “still keeping your options open, you should be careful with that”. It’s really the disaster we all knew was coming — Logan was a horrible person and father who was so focused on power for himself that he never set a single one of his children up for success (very obvious statement). His legacy is too big to fill, and who really wants to live their life attempting to fill it? Frank was so valid asking if Kendall really wanted back in because I think we’ve all wanted better for him in this whole show, at least I had at this point in the show. I mean, I wanted better for most of them at some point because I think we are always searching for someone to root for, but that’s part of this show’s brilliance.

Amanda Hill

Gotta give Logan credit here he knew how to run shit and put people in check I mean if he was able to tame someone like Karl who’s a monster then holy shit what does that say about Logan aura and intimidation

Marv

Ken’s inability to explain his legitimately good idea for the living+ launch reminds me so much of The Hudsucker Proxy. He’s talking past everyone, they’re all humoring him but they can’t see the vision because he can’t explain it. Maybe it’s because his whole vocabulary is a mishmash of buzzwords and he can’t talk like a person. For once his unearned confidence serves him well though, and he perseveres despite everyone trying to shoot him down.
