2025-10-11 19:10:32 +0000 UTCNo one ever walked in on me watching this but once when my mom was visiting me for a couple days she told me that she’d just finished watching another show I’d recommend her so I told her I have another good show for her to watch that has an amazing plot and that I think she’ll like. I totally forgot about all the sex and nudity in this show but we’re Finnish and a lot of us are comfortable with nudity because of the sauna culture here so it’s fairly normal to see your family, friends and strangers naked but the sex scenes where super awkward at least for me. Luckily my mom really liked the plot so it wasn’t that awkward in the end but I still cringe a bit when I see the sex scenes because I get emotional flashbacks to when I was watching them with my mom😅

Sun and Riley this episode and also Sun and Capheus from the last ones are perfectly written. They timing and way they connect when in need (even emotionally) is just beautiful.

2025-08-24 11:12:03 +0000 UTCRegarding the language part in the beginning. One of my favorite parts about the show Vikings is the way they go about this. When we are with the Vikings and seeing from their pov, they speak English. BUT when they encounter another culture and we are looking at it from the other side, the Vikings speak a different language and are subtitled and vice versa for the other cultures and povs. So while the English language is possibly universal (unwillingly), I do think maybe some of it is just the pov so that we can understand. Though hearing more of their og languages would be awesome and only add to the show. Riley's friend, the one who apologized as he left is from Fear The Walking Dead. Dude is a great actor. I never noticed he was in this.

Its weird that they will have him say the most appalling things and then have him be comedic relief in the next scene... he wanted to let a kid die... the first time we meet him, and im just supposed to forget that ???

"I see you, with your villain moustache!" LOLOL. Also this was the episode that started me thinking Diego has it bad for Will (this is not a spoiler just my own take on it heee). I mean, is it just me or is he flirting with Will a LOT? And then the surprise orgy! Yes this really is the group (I typo'd that as grope at first, which seems appropriate) that shares EVERYTHING. I love that you pointed out that of course Sun & Riley are not involved given what they are going through, sexytimes being the last thing on their mind. Also Kala was not involved either, which I think makes sense too as it's implied she's sexually inexperienced at this point. Anyway I'm more rambling at this point just because I'm still so excited that you are watching this show. Can't wait for you to see all that's coming! *ahem* pardon the pun!

We start out by seeing him be a loving, caring son and a very hard worker. He and his environment are depicted somewhat realistically. plus the fact that he's not the only character that is labeled "bad" sets me more at ease that the Writers are just not stereotyping a black African man Let me know if that answers your curiosity or if I didn't hit the actual parts you wanted

There are interviews where the actors talk about their experience doing it, which sounds exhausting to say the least

When Capheus meets with Sun, they are discussing their mothers because they both deeply love their mothers but when Sun see Nomi, its because they both have bad/strained relationships with their family. Specifically, Nomi was imprisoned by her bitchass mom in that hospital and now Sun is about to be imprisoned by her bitchass dad and brother. They don't speak to each other but I think they briefly appear because in that moment they are both feeling angry and betrayed by their families. I think Capheus hinted at it in episode 5, but I think for now they come/go to each other when they NEED someone, even if they don't realize they are calling out to each other because they are linked (edit: I typed this before the end of the episode and seeing you say bitchass brother and bitchass father really validated my comments) 2. (I promise idk what this means, its not a spoiler bc I only remember the romantic plot points for some reason) So far we've learned that Sun's mom died from cancer, Capheus' mom has cancer and Lito said that cancer runs in his family. We also know that Wolfgang, Will and Riley all grew up with single dads but we don't know about their mothers. Nomi has a mom but also her mom sucks so bad I'm inclined to argue that emotionally, Nomi is also a motherless child. Kala is the only one with two living parents... I wonder what this means, is this connected to them being Sense8s? or is this just a coincidence?

Its just like when you read in your head or think in your head, you can't PHYSICALLY hear yourself speaking with your own ears but at the same time...you do. So in this world, if a stranger saw Lito and Sun speaking to each other, they would hear Lito speaking Spanish and Sun speaking Korean, but in order to make it neutral for the majority of the target audience of the show, they use English as that universal baseline. I also think it could be difficult for a listener/watcher to read subtitles for multiple languages that alternate multiple times in a single episode, and now that I think about it, I'm not sure if the performances would be the same if different languages were spoken because syntax, intonation, inflection etc vary greatly between languages and it would be very difficult to interpret the emotional weight of a scene if you don't understand how German, Korean or Spanish sounds.

The scene with Van Damme (I forget his real name 😭) and Sun seeing each other through walking in a crowd, maybe they could maintain some of the emotional velocity if they shot that right after the scene where he didn’t get the combat help… I wonder how this particular show structured things. If they were able to maintain this narrative trajectory while splitting all the filming, that’s just damn amazing and incredible acting, too.

2025-08-10 00:53:01 +0000 UTCThe language stuff is interesting, I think for ease of audience understanding we can assume they’re often speaking their own language but understand the sentiment of the other. Like in the Good Place, lol. I remember being very pretentious about this as a teen and thinking that it should just always be subtitled, and then I went to a movie with my boyfriend and one of his friends. Anytime there were subtitles, my boyfriend read them out loud to his buddy. He told me later that his friend was dyslexic and couldn’t read the text fast enough to follow the story so he would always read them out to him. That made me think more about accessibility issues as well, I get why everything is in English most of the time in American media.
