daryl reminds me a bit of kenny in telltale games, the way they always think about the children. i love them both so much
also, michonne is probably the best thing that happened in this show, i love her to death

It’s good that the show became more of a mixed cast in this season. I had a tough time convincing some friends of color to watch it past season 1, because it was awkwardly white.

If yall had to choose one Walking Dead character to have your back during the apocalypse, who would it be? I’d have a tough time choosing between Michonne and Daryl. Probably leaning toward Michonne. Both are loyal and fearless, but Michonne seems next-level Don’t Fuck With Me.

So here’s my beef with the way Lori died on the show vs the comics: The C-Section. It’s brought up this season that since Carl was born via c-section that this baby will be too. But last season, when Lori was debating on whether or not to have the baby, the danger of a c-section wasn’t brought up once. They brought up how dangerous labor would be outside the farm, but that’s it… labor. Not once was it brought up how unlikely she would be to survive a c-section without modern medicine, led only by a vet.
It’s bad writing IMO. it’s like they decided in between s 2 and 3 that they were going to go a different way than the comics.
They could have just had her die via natural childbirth. Women in the US today are more likely to die in childbirth than we were 60 years ago, so it isn’t far-fetched.
I also just hate that they decided to kill T-Dawg after we lost Dale due to off-show politics.
Really, I wish Dale was alive.

The Governor's means are certainly not to be cheered but I can also see how he thinks they are justified. When you have a large group like that which you are responsible for, you can probably do some things that are pretty heinous to get what you need, and also to make sure it is not discovered by anyone else. Rick was going to be quick to kill all 4 of the prisoners, but luckily for them, he let 2 of them live. But he is not scared to kill anyone who is a threat to them, either, and the Governor knows that if those military people discovered their location, they would probably have assaulted it. So he proactively took action, since all of them were trained and armed to the teeth.
And having his daughter be a walker, and not being able to let her go, I can see how that would be tough for him after his wife had already died, his daughter was all he had left. That could make a person crazy. So keeping his daughter and trying to still love her after she has turned doesn't even seem that weird to me, when you are in that world.
I think a lot of time, we are trying to look at these things as if our normal morality applies to a situation where morality is different. Yes, it would be nice to hang on to the shreds of humanity, but that most likely would not happen everywhere. We always see these places in zombie media like in TLOU where you have militant settlements vs free settlements. Life isn't as cut and dried as it is now, and even now it isn't that cut and dried either. Take over half the population and make them zombies? Shit is gonna change, and people are going to go with their baser instincts. And the people who living in the Governor's compound are very justified to stay there, there are no better options for them out there.

Watching Epi. 6 again made me realize just how much I loved it when Merle clearly wasn't expecting Michonne to take out most of his men in their first fight, nor was he expecting to have to lie to the Governor when he couldn't kill her. Indeed it would have been nice if she took off Merle's other arm. 😮
The amount of PTSD in this walker world can't even be measured!!!
Rick's phone calls from various deceased members of the group are definitely a result of his own imagination. I viewed it as a way for Rick to have the chance to voice his guilt and remorse for not repairing his relationship sooner with Lori and for so much recent loss. As a result, he is able to start to process his grief and accept his newborn daughter as he so gently holds her in his arms for the first time. DAMN!
Eager to continue this journey with you!!

The Michonne and Andrea break up 💔💔 I never stopped to think about how the Governor pushed away Michonne to get his way with Andrea but it makes so much sense that a man like him would think that way!
That last conversation Rick and Lori had really made me so emotional. Even in death, Lori is still the voice of reason in Rick's mind.
Also, Daryl being that one character that keeps dropping the most heartbreaking lore at the most unsuspected times always catches me off guard. He's such a great character. In general the show does a great job at fleshing out its characters in a way that is so human and real. Real television.
Wonderful reaction as always!

I think Daryl has some of the best character development I've ever seen on TV. We were never really given the impression that he was an asshole like Merle, but I still wouldn't have predicted how things with him played out.

Always enjoy your comments and insight. Helps me look beyond what I took from this show when I first watched it. Well, epi. 5...another creepy Governor scene this time brushing a young girl's hair which turns out to be his undead daughter, Penny, who he keeps chained up. So messed up!!
It was so revealing when Michonne finds the cause of the Governor's instability/insanity. His notebook that once was used to write out his intelligent, detailed plans for Woodbury, turned into just page after page of tally marks counting the days since his daughter Penny turned.
I grow to dislike Andrea more and more with each passing episode. Just for once, can't she listen instead of getting goo-goo eyes for every new male she encounters and trusting them immediately!!! Why can't Andrea listen to Michonne when she says that Woodbury isn't what she thinks it is, and that no one voluntarily leaves the town. At the same time. I realize Andrea may have left also if Michonne had explained what she found, (the notebook, his undead daughter hair brushing) instead of making simple remarks that Woodbury isn't what she thinks it is. So I have to wonder...is Andrea upset or intrigued to see that the Governor uses walkers for entertainment which seems to make its residents forget how dangerous it is outside the walls of Woodbury.
I just loved it when Daryl calls the newborn baby "Lil' Ass Kicker". His character keeps growing better and wiser. His growth from a troubled background to a trusted confidante and strong leader is just awesome. I've always remembered a quote from him "You want to know what I was before all this? I was nobody. Nothing." Well, Daryl you continue to prove that is no longer the case.

i always love that daryl doesn't have time for sadness, bc there are things that need doing and he can do them. rick is on the floor. lori is dead. that baby girl needs formula in the next few hours or she will die. so daryl gets on his bike and gets down to business. bc there are people that need protecting, and he can protect them (the way no one protected him)

I've always loved that Daryl is one of the first people to step up and look after kids (Sophia, the baby...). He's looking out and caring for them - treatment he never received as a child. 'Little Ass Kicker' will always be iconic!

1:15:32 I think Carl did kill his mom. Her corpse would still be (sorry for the term here) "fresh" for the zombie to eat. Obv, I could be wrong. But that's my interpretation. He did find a bullet on the ground -- had it been shot but was pristine? Or did he shoot Lori and it went through and came out? Now, I'm thinking maybe I'm wrong.
Also, re: the Governor checking Andrea out. I noticed when they showed us the picture of him with his wife and daughter that Andrea resembles his wife.

8:23 When Lori is saying these couple of lines and she turns her head away from Carl, I felt like she was thinking about her decision to be with Shane. She did what she knew was wrong and what was easy. I know it isn't overt, but that's my read on it. Unlike everyone's criticism, Lori does know the consequences of her actions have been life-altering. Literally. I will miss Lori. I didn't appreciate her enough on my first viewing.
