Anne with an E 3 x 4-5 | Full-Length Reaction

Comments

the line "the government knows best:) they take children ALL the time:)" got my blood boiling. like yes the government did (still does), and that's the entire problem. watching the scene of Ka'kwet getting on the train to the "school", all i could think about is the thousands of indigenous children that died at those "schools" (and iirc the last of those "schools" only closed in the 1990s!!). it's absolutely horrible.

Franklin

Trash with a capital T!!!!!!!!!!

Franklin

Annoying as fuck honestly

Franklin

hahahaha real talk

Franklin

Well said lola. Kinda gives me the same vibe as interview with the vampire making 2 of the main characters black. So much more was explored through that lense

Franklin

I don't think so

Franklin

at all. Totally clueless 😆 But the day he finally does, omg

Franklin

damnn First off I always appreciate you for writing a whole essay in my comments. Love reading them Ka'kwet Story and all the places this show takes it is so raw and so needed Thanks for your perspective on not being taught about the other plights of other people around the world. I never understood the whole trauma competition that people do to see who has suffered the most, As if it's a badge of honor. Claudia Mention🧡🧡💐💐

Franklin

Appreciate you saying that and being open-minded to other perspectives. It's so freaking rare online. Thank you💐

Franklin

Maybe someday. He is so in awe of her yessss

Franklin

if you like the Looks gilbert shoots anne you should check out the anne of green gables from the 80's. it was the one i grew up with, and i was in love with gilbert blythe from the moment anne cracked her slate over his head and he just stared at her with heart eyes. this adaptation has it's ups and downs, but they really Captured just how much gilbert is in awe of anne

Eliza

Your perspective is very interesting, I really appreciate it. In some ways it is very far away from mine so it really broadens mine, thank you ❤️

I've spent last few days trying to come up with a proper comment, as always, because i think you deserve a conversation to be had to your thoughtful videos, but goddamn. I've said a few episodes back that this show is so raw in the way it shows how privileges affect one's daily struggles. i wasn't talking just about Bash, Mary and Elijah, but also about Ka'kwet. quite proud of myself for not spoiling anything about her appearance, to be honest 😅 i don't know how many hours i sobbed about her when i first finished this show. i loved your perspective on white people "not recalling" what they were doing while black people were fighting for their lives back in the day (and still fighting). it also made me dive back into my own thoughts. I've been thinking a lot for the past few years about genocide, as a jewish girl, who lost parts of my family to holocaust. I'm so fucking enraged by how most of my community presented holocaust as this unprecedented tragedy for me ever since i was a literal toddler. as if it never fucking happened before and after to anyone other than jews. it's like people were trying to engrave in me some sort of narcissistic ethnical superiority, because, allegedly "we suffered the most", which is fucking bullshit. I'm not exaggerating in the slightest, I've spent my childhood going to jewish summer camp and that's what working-upper class jewish community was trying to make us feel as kids. it was as if they wanted to claim the word "genocide" strictly to jewish people. not once was i told as a kid about any other genocide in history and ESPECIALLY about the genocide of Palestinians israel has started until i was conscious enough to start my own research. i wish every victim of racism and/or genocide of black and indigenous people was remembered and treasured the same way the whole world remembers holocaust victims. I'm so enraged that it's still "understandable" if this show was cancelled because it spoke up about canada's crimes against indigenous people. can you imagine if a show now was cancelled because it spoke up about holocaust? the sheer hypocrisy of it all is just? they always care about white people dying, never about anyone else, i just have no words. thinking about Claudia's "if there is an afterlife, i will come back and fucking kill all of you. and if there isn't an afterlife - I'm still gonna find a way". safe to say, i find it hard to care about any other plot line this season when there's this beautiful kind girl being tortured behind closed doors, I'm just numb to everything else, maybe safe for Bash, and Anne's self-journey. this show healed parts of me for the first two seasons and then ripped my heart out and educated me in the last season. also fuck rachel, and gilbert is still pmo 😇 Thank you so much for your hard work, much love 💚

Honestly, I don't remember even noticing Jerry that much when I watched the show years ago, but now that Frank hypes him up so much, I really love him! It's so funny that he's his n#1 fan

Lola Lirola

Not to be spoilery, but in the books it's an entirely different character who dies, and in the book everyone is white, so kinda yes, they did snatch a white character like that.

Lola Lirola

same here in turkey, not once did i get ads when i paused something

mari

I didn’t even realize that Netflix has ads when you pause it, is that only in the US? I’m in Japan and they don’t have any ads on it here

Alisa Day

I feel like the actor playing Gilbert doesn't know how powerful his gaze is yet lolll

melskmelsk

I really appreciate what you said about the commodification of Black trauma. I haven't always been awake to these dynamics as a white person. I see the respect around Mary's story and the depiction of Bash's grief and I'm glad it's there. Would they snatch away a white character like that though? Anyone can die from an infected scrape so why not one of the many white side characters? Way too often marginalized characters only get to keep some spotlight on them in the plot if they're suffering.

melskmelsk

Just remind me—since we're talking about Native American stories here. Frank, have you ever seen the movie Wind River?

Julita Piotrowska

Watching stories of forced family separation, particularly by the Catholic Church, is too triggering.

Melissa

I love how so many storylines and themes are explored in these two episodes, but it doesn't feel like there's not enough time for each one. I especially love the depictions of grief, single parenthood, and girlhood/womanhood. Ruby saying "oh how I love being a woman" makes me cry every time- there's something quite healing about it. You're right about Gilbert's stare, the man hides NOTHING about his feelings. Still, that dancing scene is one of my favourites. I wish this show got renewed for another season, because they still had so much more to explore. Still, I'm loving your reactions (obsessed that you're Jerry's #1 fan).

Anya Smith

I think you said it best, this show is so raw. The good and the bad. I think Anne feels all her emotions so heightened (which is very common for neurodivergent people), that the show also does, and so we do too. I kinda love that you shared how not in the mood you were for a lot of the horribleness in the first episode. Thank you for always keeping it honest, I felt the same way. But I like that the show doesn't try to pretend everything was bucolic countryside childhood exploring. I'm glad it doesn't depict the past as "better times". My theory on the cancellation is specifically because this (if I remember correctly) is partly financed by Canadian Government grants, and going into what they did in the boarding schools must have made them so uncomfortable! I have to say, the book does not go into any of it, it is after all written by a relatively sheltered white woman, so there's no mention of anything happening past a very white Avonlea. But I love that the show expanded the world so much more, and that they looked at what was actually happening at the time! They did a bit of a Trojan horse there: come for the quaint story you already know, and then we'll tell you everything else! And then the "sex Ed" episode was such a hoot! Ah, I loved learning about "tapping current", it's so great! And all the scary misconceptions about pregnancy... I shake my head, but I'm laughing!

Lola Lirola

Immaculate vibes indeed. But here I am wondering how all these girls are going to explain their muddy, grass stained nightgowns to their mothers 😂😂

Stefan and Erin S

Omg, thank you for saying Tyler Perry is an op!! I've been thinking it for so long, that he really hates Black women, but he's such a giant in the industry, ugh

Lola Lirola

I remember why I quit watching this show. I think I'm going to have to quit again.

Melissa

Please 🙏🏼 feel well soon 🙏🏼

Frank: Oh yr wedging ads in? I'm now doing PSAs about how each of the advertised products are trash

Atom

I'm glad you keep your eye out the way you do. I don't f*ck with uncritical viewership

Atom

When you're having a migraine but Frank + Anne with an E doesn't make it worse so now you at least have something to distract you while you're in pain
