2025-04-14 05:03:26 +0000 UTCFirefly would be a pretty quick burn, especially if you watched more than one ep in a sitting. There are fourteen 45 min long episodes, plus a movie, that's it. (The below contains no spoiler for the show itself, just info about why the show was cancelled, etc.) In case nobody has mentioned it to you, Firefly didn't even get a full season, it was cancelled mid season. The executive at Fox that loved the show and bought it left Fox (or left that position at Fox, I can't remember), and the new executives hated it, didn't understand it. They aired the episodes all out of order, kept changing the day of the week it aired, and even forced the show runners to write a whole new pilot episode because they didn't like the true pilot - they actually aired the true pilot LAST. They basically forced it to fail. So, when fans of the show talk about how sad and mad they are about it being cancelled, this is a big part of it - it was treated entirely unfairly. BUT, the cool part of the story is that the fans rallied, and it is because of them that they were able to make the movie. "Burn the land, and boil the sea, you can't take the sky from me." Browncoats forever.
