Oh my goodness it's so important that you brought this up. I didn't even look at it from the SA implications but I absolutely do now. That vulnerability and someone with so much power doing that to you. Especially with Riley knowing that he is Pruitt, a man he has looked up to and known since he was a kid. And of course, we know all the stories about the Catholic church and SA with young boys. fuckkkkk. And honestly now that you say it, it probably was a deliberate Choice by Mike Flanagan. Thanks for mentioning this

I really hope you see this comment on a 2 week old reaction!
When Riley asks Pruitt if he fed on his blood while he was unconscious and Pruitt says yes, I always get the most nauseating feeling in the pit of my stomach and it brings me almost to tears. I didn't realize why until my 4th re-watch and its because of the implications of SA.
Vampire lore is historically intertwined with sexuality in a magnitude of ways and we see it and almost every iteration. Up until very recently we only ever saw male vampires preying on female victims but of course times change. The act of consuming one's blood is an inherently intimate act as well and when you combine the usual tactics of seduction that vampires use to lure their prey, well you get the point...
Anyway, I said all that to say, when Riley asks Pruitt if he fed on him, it feels like someone asking a close friend if they took advantage of them while in a vulnerable state and I hear that betrayal in Riley's voice and see it in his eyes when Pruitt says yes and it makes my skin crawl and it breaks my heart. Even without the SA implications, knowing this man you trusted, who seemed like he genuinely wants to help you would partake in such a violent (and non-consensual) act against you.... Yea I could cry just typing this. Anyway thanks!
