I came for Anne with an E and just finished Derry girls after picking it up and not completing the series a few years ago. I surprised myself with how much I loved this. The universal experience of growing up, being excited and scared paired with the very specific moment in time and place of Derry in the 90s was so special. Found myself choked up in the final moments. The characters grew up so much and yet stayed true to who we met them as, as we all do, I suppose. I’m gonna miss these girls (and james!). So happy we got a flashback and I learned so much about the Troubles. Beautiful!

2025-09-06 18:24:08 +0000 UTCI would recommend another Irish show - Bad Sisters, but only season 1! It's pretty much a perfect stand alone season of tv. But then they did go and make a second season which just isn't the same - loses some of the laughter and becomes too serious. So just watch season 1 and pretend that's it. It works that way anyway :)

It's written and acted by a super popular group of British comedians, and has both some of the funniest bits and the most poignant moments I've ever seen.
