2025-02-14 05:57:04 +0000 UTCThis show is written almost so perfectly but I get bothered by the fact that a poker game with 6 figures on the table is using chips that can be bought at a drug store. People would be sliding fake chips into the game so fast it would make your head spin.

Kind of the same reason Cyberpunk is both my favorite and most dreaded genre. I love what it says about society and humanity, but I'm also pretty sure it's where we're headed so every time I read, play or watch something Cyberpunk I get consumed by ill feelings.

It hasn't gotten better, it's gotten worse. That boy wasn't reading anything, nor did he have the dictionary open which he called a workbook. It's sad man.

2025-02-11 13:50:46 +0000 UTC1:20 To add to what you're saying about Stringer/Avon v. Marlo's crew . . . part of it is also just the way the "game" changes and evolves. They're two different generations. Avon/Stringer grew up in this community & they/their crew showed a lot of reverence for those that came before them to make the "game" what it is. Marlo and his crew don't appear to be rooted in this community -- for example, look at Bodie who started as a runner for the Barksdale crew -- Marlo wasn't around, so I have always inferred that he came from either another part of Baltimore, outside the city, or even another state. They've brought something new to the "game," and because they seemingly have no ties to the community and don't revere those that came before them, they have less to be beholden to. I think this gives them a hand up in a way -- or at least I think that's what the show is telling us. They follow their own rules.
