2025-07-09 15:02:30 +0000 UTCI want to answer you but I don't know how far you got in your watch through, so I'll just say you will find out soon
Franklin
2025-04-22 14:57:35 +0000 UTCNot having watched since before, I have soooooo many questions. I guess when you are home, you remember you have a job, but you don't remember how much it sucks at Lumon, so you go back everyday. And once you are there, you can't leave until the day ends. Seems like Lumon is one big human experiment any everyone there are lab rats. Will see where continued viewing leads to!!

2025-04-17 15:14:52 +0000 UTCThis is my first time watching this show. I'm intrigued and at the same time a bit frightened. The one thing I have not figured out yet is...since their work and home life are severed, how do they even remember to go to work the next day or remember where they live in order to drive home at the end of the work day?? Did I miss something???

2025-04-16 19:56:23 +0000 UTChahaha the speed is crazy. Already in season 2. Lucky you
Franklin
2025-02-13 01:29:14 +0000 UTCI think it's just inside Lumen Industries, and I really enjoyed the vintage style they have in there.
Franklin
2025-02-13 01:28:27 +0000 UTCI wonder in which time this show is set in. The computer Monitors and the "board" look very vintage. Or is ist just inside of lumon like this? The watch marks turns on for work seems to be an older model than the one he wears outside. The last scene of Peetey seems like the former "outie" and "innie" were there at the same time, so mabe the severance had kind of infekted his bain and could not be completely reserved. And I really want to know what exactley their work is.

2025-02-13 00:56:09 +0000 UTCThanks Frank for holding my hand on this one! I tried watching once before and stumbled but I tried again last week with your reaction and BOOM. I'm now on Season 2 episode 1 😂

2025-02-07 20:06:58 +0000 UTC😅 I just commented that before I saw your comment! Yes, my dad is a doctor on a unit for epilepsy, and they do indeed perform the surgeries with the patient awake!

2025-02-06 23:04:33 +0000 UTCYou might also like Silo - it's another Apple TV show. Has 2 seasons. I still need to watch season 2 - it's a weird one also.

2025-02-06 20:11:11 +0000 UTCI have the answer to the "does brain surgery hurt"? My dad is a neurosurgeon specialized in epilepsy, and they do indeed operate on awake, conscious people, and it doesn't hurt! The brain itself doesn't have nerve endings. So the part that they have to anesthetize is just the local area of the skull, but once inside it's fine. They once operated on a violinist who was having seizures, and they had her playing the violin during the whole operation to make sure they didn't mess up anything bad!

2025-02-06 20:02:03 +0000 UTCFor real. Even the way they talk at the office was weird, the higher-ups. I wanted answers so bad .

2025-02-06 18:58:31 +0000 UTCOh yeah. I did not enjoy his character in a good place obviously because he was a demon and so condescending. But I enjoy his character here
Franklin
2025-02-06 18:57:33 +0000 UTCnot sure if you recognize adam scott (main character), he plays trevor (one of the demons) in the good place

2025-02-06 16:11:09 +0000 UTCSure! Maybe listen to S1 episodes before starting S2. But regardless of what you do, definitely listen. S1 pods are particularly good.

2025-02-06 15:05:11 +0000 UTCThanks for sharing. I absolutely love listening to podcasts of shows that I enjoy. I think I'll wait till after the show is done. Sometimes hearing the crew talking about it subconsciously influences how I view the show as I'm watching

2025-02-06 14:54:51 +0000 UTCThis one has been to Talk of the Town for a while now. Happy to finally start it And yeah I caught how they lied about his injury and gave him a gift card. Shady indeed. So many secrets

2025-02-06 14:49:01 +0000 UTCYou've gone from watching one of my favorite movies to watching my current favorite show this is what I wanna see!! So excited to see you go on the journey that is this show. One of the few ive seen in a while where every episode seems to top the previous one. It's only up from here lol.

2025-02-06 12:23:23 +0000 UTCIn terms of your question about brain surgery, it is actually common for certain brain surgeries to have the patient be awake during surgery and just have general anesthesia for when they cut through the skin. Your brain has little to no pain receptors so you can’t feel any pain when they are doing surgery on your brain and keeping you awake ensures that there is no damage done that is affecting Your speech or ability to physically move.

2025-02-06 08:40:41 +0000 UTCMy favorite show in a long time! I mean, I LOVED The Good Place and Fleabag, but this one has all the stuff going for it, interesting story/writing, great acting, directing, cinematography, set design! Opps, let me rephrase that; I enjoy all the creative and skilled elements of this show equally. 😉

2025-02-06 07:43:52 +0000 UTCYou’re in for such a fun ride. One of the best first seasons of television I’ve ever seen. Wouldn’t change a single thing about it. NO SPOILERS: I’m not sure if you caught it, but when Mark got the card about how he got injured at work, they lied about how he sustained said injury. Not a spoiler, just another shady Lumon activity to take note of. Also you are blessed and highly favored to be starting this as season two is airing. Soooo excited to witness your journey!

2025-02-06 05:43:04 +0000 UTCThis one I voted on blindly because I didn’t know any of the shows so I saw that it was ranked pretty high, so I decided to click on it. I have a feeling this mirrors, a certain part of human reality that we many may deny exist in our worlds Govs.

2025-02-06 05:32:11 +0000 UTCI do think the podcast is really great but imo it's a good in between s1 and s2 listen. I think some of the way they talk about the show gives away themes that get developed over the first season. 🤷♂️ Probably not enough to be considered spoilers though, just thought it was worth mentioning
Michael
2025-02-06 04:41:06 +0000 UTCThis one took me two tries to get into, but now I’m IN.

2025-02-06 03:53:33 +0000 UTCFranklin: Ben Stiller, executive producer and director of Severance, and Adam Scott who plays Mark have a podcast. It would be worth your time listening to the podcast discussion after each episode. They don't spoil anything because it's episode by episode. https://www.audacy.com/podcast/the-severance-podcast-with-ben-stiller-adam-scott-947fe They also have actors, the writer, and others guest on the pods. Def worth the listen. **UPDATE: I listened to Episode 1 and 2 again while cleaning this morning. I truly do not believe anything is spoilery at all. And all the behind the scenes info and actor input is fascinating.
Melissa
2025-02-06 03:52:35 +0000 UTCI listen to the We Know Severance podcast, and two of the podcasters are doctors who studied the brain. I love to hear their input on specific parts of the show. They were super excited that what they saw in this episode was realistic and plausible. **They also had good insight into S2 Ep 3 if you're interested. https://robhasawebsite.com/shows/rhap-we-know-scripted-tv/severance/

2025-02-06 03:50:01 +0000 UTCYour comparison to "Black Mirror" is spot on! :) :)

2025-02-06 02:41:37 +0000 UTCOhhhh! I just started this myself. I’ll watch along with you. It’s a strange one!

2025-02-06 02:37:22 +0000 UTCYou asked if the surgery was real medically. The director said on a podcast that the guy playing the surgeon was a real brain surgeon that they had consulting on set. It was filmed during Covid, so instead of bringing an additional actor on set they just had the surgeon play the part. 😅 About the pain: there aren’t many nerve endings in the brain. They often do brain surgery with just local anesthesia to numb the pain when they cut the skin, but you don’t really have pain receptors in the bone or brain tissue. Having you awake also means they can monitor your responses better. I remember hearing a story about a professional violinist who had a brain tumor removed. They had her play at points during surgery to make sure the areas they were going to cut wouldn’t damage her ability to play.

2025-02-06 02:29:30 +0000 UTCOh cool! I’ve been watching this with my mother and we haven’t finished season one yet. Itll be great to rewatch here too. Refresh all the details! 🥳🥳
