I really enjoyed Bosch

2025-01-02 02:48:44 +0000 UTC33:51 this is like one of my favorite scenes ever LOL so random but it goes to show that, at the end of the day, they're just humans who live their own lives too and, sure, when it comes to their respective jobs, they're on opposite sides but, when it comes to day offs or outside of their work, they're not as different as they might think. It reminds me of that one episode in s1 where they also came across each other during that basketball game lmao 🤣

2025-01-02 02:44:07 +0000 UTComg I'm glad to see some praise for Bosch! I can't lie, I only added Bosch to my to-watch list bc I loved how he portrayed Marlo so much that I was checking to see his other works and that one caught my eye, especially since his role seems to be the exact opposite of his role in The Wire so I'm very interested to see the difference lol

2025-01-02 02:40:41 +0000 UTCoh I can't wait until you get around to The Sopranos at some point!! while The Wire is my favorite show of all time (and keep in mind, I've only watched this show for the first time at the end of 2023 but it just grabbed a hold of my heart so quick and I know people tend to describe The Wire more of a plot-driven show but, as someone who loves character-driven shows, the characters in this show just have my heart... okay, I'll stop rambling now 🤣), The Sopranos is also up there for me as one of my favorites and the complexity of both shows were just so good!

2025-01-02 02:39:02 +0000 UTCIndeed. He is also plays one of the alien characters in The Orville which surprised the hell out me when I saw his name in the credits; he is unrecognizable. That show was silly but surprisingly good. Lots of the actors from the Wire didn't get offered nearly enough parts for how good they were in this show; but I always get a little hyped when I see them in other parts. I always hope for more of them. Same for other early HBO shows like Rome, Deadwood, and Band of Brothers; HBO knows talent when they see it at least their casting team brings many of these folks back in other shows.

2024-12-25 05:39:28 +0000 UTCYou're welcome Laura. Yes the double episodes will be the norm going forward. I know what you mean about the Muslim brother. He is definitely going to appear again. Sometimes this show tackles so much with so many characters that some get pushed to the side for a couple of episodes, just as characters like Bubbs are pushed to the side - sometimes for even three episodes. Brother will definitely be back, he has a score to settle with stranger for setting him up. I can foresee him linking up with Omar and going for Stringer. That was so funny to me. Kema and McNulty are so alike, they were partners for a very long time after all. And yes not just you, I think there was a significant time skip between the last episode and this one. Almost like an episode or two could ever occured between them. Hopefully with the complete season, we will have a better perspective on everything

2024-12-25 05:38:39 +0000 UTCHonestly Melissa, reading this comment actually put everything into perspective in my brain. So many fucking characters in this show and they're all well developed and written. That is unheard of.

2024-12-25 05:27:32 +0000 UTCPerfectly said man. And out of all those shows the only one I haven't seen is sopranos. Someday.

2024-12-23 01:43:45 +0000 UTCSad little piece of trivia; the character of Ray Cole died suddenly in the show because the actor playing him, Robert F. Colesberry (who was also a producer on the show and directed an episode) died from complications after heart surgery.

2024-12-22 19:25:42 +0000 UTCI need to say, for the record, that Chad Coleman (Cutty) is a VERY good looking man. God damn.

2024-12-22 18:58:57 +0000 UTCIn the end, it really comes down to the thing that separates the good shows from the great: telling the audience not just WHAT happens, but WHY it happens. The Wire, the Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Arcane, Hannibal, and early Game of Thrones are all in a higher class of show because they take as much care telling us why events transpire as they do crafting these compelling events and narratives for us.

2024-12-22 18:11:22 +0000 UTC“How many shows actually take the time to get so deep into structures of society like this”? 😉

2024-12-22 02:41:42 +0000 UTCIt really is the depth of this show, the interconnectedness, how you described the way the characters are learning these lessons and reflecting their environment that make me always call The Wire the best show of all time. Other shows might be flashier, more exciting, seem more grandiose and more impactful, but I don't think any other show has ever gone down to the nuts and bolts like The Wire has and still told its story so well.

2024-12-21 21:55:07 +0000 UTCOmar Little. Truly one of the best TV characters ever created. But honestly, if I made a list, so many would come from this show: Stringer Bell, Lester Freeman, Bubs . . . I agree on the writing for this season. Tighter. More precision. What you said about the depth, too. I can't think of another crime drama that gives you all of these layers -- law enforcement, street dealers, politicians, lawyers, schools, journalism -- and shows us ALL of them as human beings not stereotypes. Think about how many characters are in this show as well. And we know them all so well because they're well-written, well-acted, and well-developed. The more I think about it, this really may be the best TV series I've ever seen when looked at as a whole. I'm glad are invested in Cutty (real name Dennis). I love his character so much. Great actor, too. I also love the introduction of Marlo -- always fun to have new players. The actor Jamie Hector is in a terrific crime show called "Bosch," where he plays a cop. I'm a big fan of his work. I think you'd like "Bosch," the name of the main character who is played by Titus Welliver. What a name -- Titus! :)

2024-12-21 13:34:40 +0000 UTCFranklin, thank you for the double episode. But something was really off and you noticed it as soon as I did I thought maybe I was just too old and missed a episode because so much changed without any follow-through especially with the brotherhood Muslim man I cannot remember his name he was there and then gone no resolution no explanation. And I had to laugh so hard when you called out Kema as McNulty Junior and not but two seconds later, they said it in the show! But I’m very confused how they can introduce the Muslim man and the last scene he’s in the hospital stating Basically he’s got his own thing. Don’t want nothing. He’s got it under control to them just two episodes of nothing no story ark maybe later he’ll appear? But somehow, I feel something is missing the hint that the baby was born by cesarean and the baby is older than a newbornthings shifted without explanation. Maybe it’s just my old brain but again thank you for the two episode that was a Christmas present. I appreciate your time and effort. I hope you slept well.

2024-12-21 07:10:51 +0000 UTCDaniels separated from his wife on the way to divorce so him having cake with Rhonda isn't that big a deal. He isn't cheating. The only reason they aren't already divorced is because it looks good for his wife if she is married. Cutty is kinda of a POV character fro this season in the same way as Frank, NIco, and them in last season. He is very interesting. Chad Coleman in the actor and he also shows up in a great show called 'The Expanse' as a supporting character.

2024-12-21 03:39:03 +0000 UTCHow has nobody in the detail noticed that McNulty has some Cassandra-like powers of prophecy? If he says it’s too soon to go off the wire I’d be listening.
