The Wire 2x6 | Full Length Reaction

Comments

I cringed 😬 every time you said D-Lo is your favorite character knowing what was coming πŸ˜‚

Thomas

No it is not! Stringer straight up paid the guy. They discussed it pretty clearly.

Adam Moody

There’s plenty to piece together. Have to pay attention.

Adam Moody

After you finish this series. I highly recommend giving Treme a try. It’s written by the same guy that wrote The Wire and stars Bunk and Lester, among other bigger names. The show is about life after Hurricane Katrina and the culture of New Orleans. One of the best shows no one has seen. The music is phenomenal.

Adam Moody

Sounds like your wife is a very considerate person, glad you listened to her! And I'm very glad you went for the fancy ones, they really look amazing.

Maria

Smart woman!

Melissa

And it's the same with books! That's why I love what you do! It's equivalent to annotating a text. πŸ€“

Melissa

Gracias. My wife literally forced me to get blue light glasses to protect my eyes from the screens. Well I chose to get a fancy one lol

Franklin

Please Melissa feel free to flex your English teacher knowledge on us anytime it calls for it. Always love the input He was ready for a change smh I'm glad it's better for you this go around. I believe sometimes just the process of stopping and analyzing helps increase the appreciation of a scene/story. Even just a little bit. I 1,000% believe that I love and appreciate movies so much more because I am making reactions and commentary to them. Maybe some of these movies won't hit me as much if I was just chilling on a couch with popcorn

Franklin

And as a part that hurts the most. He was taking a fresh path

Franklin

Very true. And nothing about that reality is Pleasant

Franklin

For real. I assumed he was a friend to one of the prisoners who died because of Avon's plan. And since he overheard dee, he was going to go beat him up, or report back to his crew or something. But this?

Franklin

Oh my goodness thanks for mentioning this. That is a parallel that I did not even think about at all

Franklin

Same here

Franklin

Tragic indeed mark. I didn't know they were going to take it that far haha I totally understand the feeling of guilt. He's just too enjoyable

Franklin

How is this a spoiler?

Russ D

Tragic at the end. Omar in the witness stand was everything for me! I feel guilty, but I really like his character alot!

mark

One of my favorite episodes 😭

Roronoa Denpaii

Definitely a spoiler!

Melissa

Yes, excellent point!!!

Melissa

The parallel between Dee and Ziggy is powerful. Both had parents who compelled or influenced them to try to be something they were not. Ziggy is incompetent as a longshoreman and drug dealer; Dee is clueless and soft as a drug dealer. They're trying to be something their parent wants them to be and they are not. Dee's character grows as he realizes what he is not and appears to start the journey of finding himself.

richard wilkinson

Does this get explained later? If so, I’d call this a spoiler… there’s not really enough in the scene to piece this together.

Valaree

I forgot how disturbing that last scene is. Dee expressed mere disinterest in accepting favors from Avon and that was enough for this guy to attack him. It’s in such a public place too but the guy obviously knew what he was doing. He was so creepy!

Valaree

This really is one of the best episodes of the show all-around. So much of what the show is about, thematically, comes to the fore during this episode. From the farce in the courtroom, to the delicate balance of the empires (both criminal and domestic), to the unnecessary and cruel fate of Dee. It's kind of the package deal for what The Wire stands for, and what its trying to tell us about society.

Noct

Rewatch the scene with Stringer meeting with the guy from DC, they were setting up the hit on D’Angelo

Russ D

Yeah, D was flushing his remaining coke or heroin wraps. Lookin' to get clean I guess.

Shane

English teacher alert ⚠️ The book club: The last line of "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald is, "And so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past". So tragic that D'Angelo tried so hard to go with the current and move forward, but he is pulled back (like many of these characters) by the past. I'm glad I'm watching this with you bc while I've seen all the seasons a few times, I only watched S2 once or twice -- for some reason it didn't hit with me then. I'm enjoying it much more this go round. Omar is the GOAT. Period.

Melissa

Before I forget, I LOVE your glasses! They look fab on you.
