I typically watch and record during the day, so the videos will be posted later in the evening. Videos may appear on the following day in your timezone.

Weekly question: What’s a common misconception about your job/hobby/occupation/passions?

Most of my recent jobs have been around creativity. Commission artist, content creator, and painting instructor\teacher. I think one of the big misconceptions that people have is that it comes easy, or it's a gift/talent. I think it's just because of how people in general view the arts. I think is viewed as some God-given talent. But I believe it is all about interest level. I believe everybody can learn how to do different forms of arts if they don't have any physical/mental disabilities that might limit them. I always tell my students "The first time you drove a car, you were probably terrified, but now you drive your car without even thinking twice about it. You have it down to muscle memory. That's how art is, with repetition and kind guidance/tutoring, you usually improve more than you think you ever could" Plus when you do get to that point of satisfaction in your ability as an artist. It feels earned, it feels like something you put a lot of effort into and got the result. It gives you a sense of agency. Not some gift that you were preordained with. It also helps others know that they are capable of achieving that as well, and are not limited by gifts or talents that they may or may not have. I would love to hear yours :)

See you in a video very soon and thank you all for your support <3

I absolutely love how you just describe that. Both science and art

Franklin

I'm a history major. Due to the poor level of education in the United States (and elsewhere) when it comes to the subject, most people believe history is either fake or just a subject where you memorize dates and political figures. The truth of history is the analysis of humans and it encapsulates so much including race, gender, identity, behavior, etc. History, when done properly reconstructs a past using numerous sources from varying perspectives. It is both science and art.

Patricio Villafuerte

gotcha. thanks for sharing

Franklin

I feel you. I got super burned out at my very active-brain job and decided to get back into the lab. there's still enough analysis to keep from being boring, and i love that i'm helping people and NOT taking work home with me. bliss

PickleBaron

It doesn't do very well in views and such that I've seen for reactors, so it's fine if you pass on it. It's a Swedish drama about teenagers, so not really top of peoples lists, lol.

Pam R

I do enjoy what I do, it just requires my brain to be “on” basically all day which can be exhausting. I miss having some work that’s more muscle memory where I can let my mind wander. I could always jump in and help the lab folks I support, and occasionally I get to run some tests of my own when I’m trying to develop a new process.

Valaree

Shout out to you for spreading the good word of our videos LOL So I found this website that has like 500 plus questions that you can ask people to get to know them better. I just pick one every week But feel free to direct message me and submit a question if you have one and it might make it on the weekly questions

Franklin

I think you're right and that has been on my mind for a long time. Even when I started my Channel with doing movies, always felt like I wanted to watch those movies that reaction channels usually don't touch. The really great movies that are not too popular. And he is doing more niche shows have definitely grown my channel more than others. Good example is Ted lasso and interview with the vampire.

Franklin

Thank you for sharing and spreading the word Melissa. It's so unfortunate to see the praise and gratitude that teachers got vanish into the air. The job doesn't stop. And oh my goodness the political climate, I can't imagine that being fun to deal with. Pisses me off. But I know your students saw you as a refuge. I love hearing that. I'm excited for your future as well. Some time for yourself

Franklin

I'll try to do too when I can. But with the school season starting again. I'm going to be teaching more classes at the Museum so. It might be like that for a while.

Franklin

Thank you for joining the patron Pamela. Haven't heard about Young Royals before, I'm going to look it up

Franklin

Wow. That makes so much sense. One would expect that the richest people would give the most.

Franklin

That is so interesting. Is there anything you can do to get back to the part of it that you enjoy?

Franklin

I’m a chemist but they don’t let me play with beakers and make potions anymore 😭. I spend most of my time writing reports and procedures and training people and reviewing other people’s work and giving them feedback. I miss working in the lab sometimes, because you can just listen to music and kind of turn off your brain, but it does get repetitive doing stuff like pipetting from one container to another over and over.

Valaree

I do fundraising for a living and people think that the super rich people give the most. But honestly, it’s the people who do ‘okay’ who end up donating far more than ‘rich’ people. They just give differently. A rich person may write one big check and move on, but true community-minded and loyal donors give a little bit for years at a time and it adds up. Especially with other modest donors doing the same. That’s why fundraising campaigns ask for big AND small donations. It all adds up and makes a difference.

I literally only join anyone's patreons for 2 shows. Most only have 1 but some have both. It's just Young Royals and Ted Lasso for me. But seeing as Young Royals is a Swedish show on Netflix, it doesn't really do that well on people's Youtube channels.

Pam R

I imagine he could pull in young viewers with this!

Melissa

Dude, are you going to do one IWTV ep a week now to torture us??!! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 (I'm half joking, but you know I support your schedule being how you want it.)

Melissa

Frank, if you want to post strategically on Youtube you should consider doing a “first- time watching” of Heartstopper (if you haven’t seen it) bc the 3rd season is about to drop on Netflix in a couple weeks. It’s highly anticipated and s3 will have HYPE. Each season is only 4hrs long so many reactors do 2 eps at a time since it’s only a half-hour show. You could burn through it super fast. A lot of reactors built their whole name and audience off the popularity of their Heartstopper reactions. Two examples, Niall no Chill and Brad Evans saw their channels take off with views surpassing 100k per vid. Season 3 drops Oct 3rd.

I shared your link (and also talked about FoxTaco) in a FB group called The Articulate Coven (they have a podcast about the show - huge fans of the books and series), and they approved its post. :) There are rabid fans in there, so I hope you get some coming your way. I just retired early from teaching (I'm 54) after 30 years in the classroom, and I'm now working part time as an office manager. I think the most common misconception about teaching is that we have it "so easy" because we have "summers off." Most of us work through the summer prepping for the coming year and/or working a side gig. Things have gotten worse since COVID. During that year, we were praised and given so much gratitude; then, the tide turned again. The political climate has made it even worse. (I'll leave it at that in regard to politics.) Teaching was a wonderful career as teaching English literature and writing was my passion. I loved sharing books with students, helping them find confidence and a voice in their writing, and most of all, letting them know my room was a safe space where they were free to be themselves no matter what. I do miss the kids now, but I am happy to be forging a new path for my future. I'm excited to see what it will bring! :)

Melissa

i think watching more niche-y shows with dedicated fans might be the way to go! you might get less views than the bigger creators watching trending shows but it makes you stand out, and your videos won't get drowned out into the many i feel like you get more recurrent viewers this way, it's easier to build a steady viewership my opinion tho!

tiph

I have spammed all my friends with your and FoxTaco‘s reaction videos 😂 but I will definitely see if there is someone I know that has not been graced with the blessing yet! I love the personal questions you answer on your weekly overview! Do you think up the questions or do people on pateron submit them? If the second are there certain topics you don‘t feel comfortable answering questions about?
