The Wire 1x12 | Full Length Reaction

Comments

As sad as it is, Wallace did snitch to the police. It’s all in the game, yo.

Adam Moody

Unfortunately Bodie & Poot taking out Wallace was just like any job Promotion when the Big Boss tells you to fire one of your employees, it’s sad to compare the 2 situation but it is the same on this show💯

Oh my goodness. Thanks for sharing this. Seeing him in that red suit and the whole message behind the music video was amazing

I absolutely have zero hate for the game! I want nothing more than for you to be successful in every single way and I love watching all your reactions. I do hope that even if the Wire doesn't continue in reaction world that you will still find time enjoy it on your own terms. It's truly exceptional and the foundation for so many other shows/writing styles. Thanks for doing what you do!

Laura Vaughn

To be fair, D'Angelo can't tell Wallace "Hey my uncle is thinking about killing you, go back to your grandma's". That ain't gonna play. That shit would get back to Avon, because they'd wonder who tipped him off.

Franklin, I hope this link is allowed. My favorite singer is Chris Stapleton and he just made a song with someone in it as the main star that you will recognize. https://youtu.be/VBBhd66l9u8?si=8C2Zg4Ou6ZeNCKl3

Hey Laura. Y'all know how much I love this show. Even the idea of dropping it for now hurts. I want to keep growing with these characters, I want to keep learning the story, it's one of my favorite things to watch right now. But unfortunately, the growth potential for YouTube is so low. I knew that going in. I knew it was a long show, and could only commit to one season at a time. But still, I gave it a chance hoping that it would pop off. But it didn't. And it's unfortunate that my YouTube and Patreon live off each other. I know it might seem unfair to prioritize YouTube over you guys who are here. I wish it didn't have to be so. If I continue watching The Wire here and not posting it on YouTube where I can gain more growth and patrons. That's time taking off the potential of growing through another TV show. It sucks so bad and I dread it but that's just how the game is played on that platform. Especially for smaller channels like mine that don't get a lot of opportunities. I wouldn't want to ask any of you to pay more than you already are, or even remain paid members, I don't think it's fair. I'm currently trying to reach out to Facebook groups, Reddit pages, and other communities that love the wire to hopefully promote my videos.

Wallace's death broke me the first time I watched this series. It's so hard to watch it even after multiple viewings. The other scene from this episode that has always stayed with me is Dee, "Where's Wallace? Where's Wallace, String? String!" I feel that deep. It is so painful.

Melissa

oh my goodness...can't get over Wallace just yet.

mark

Man, Wallace's death is still hard to watch even after all these years.

Shane

Frannnklkkk what can we do to get you to keep watching the Wire with us😭😭😭 I have looked forward to these reactions more than any other media each week. This show is so important. Surely a few of us would chip in a few extra each month to keep it going?! Anyone?!?!🥹 This episode breaks me every single time.

I love the parallel shots of Poot looking up the stairs at Bodie, then later McNulty looking down the stairs at Daniels. They really knew what they were doing with this show.

I feel like D'Angelo's big flaw is he's really just not cut out for this life, all together. He's meant to be a civilian, not a gangster. So, he not only lacks the foresight of his actions and how others might react, but also he doesn't have that ice in your veins killer instinct. If he did, he would have known what was about to happen to Wallace. But, he put his trust in Avon and Stringer, and one of those two did not trust him back. Avon probably would have taken Dee's word, as family, but Stringer is too cold for that. He has no family, no one he trusts. He trusts the dollar, and whatever it takes to secure it.

Noct

Bodie really projecting all his weaknesses and conflict onto Wallace to justify what he was told to do. Bodie knows its wrong, all the way down he knows, but he needs to craft a reason to do it anyways. Poot just wanted to end his friend's suffering. What a tragedy.

Noct

Lester Freamon is the smoothest man alive.

Noct

others already said it, but dee was a little naive about everything. i don’t think he grasped the danger wallace was in. rip wallace, having poot and bodie do it was ruthless, even for stringer. i don’t know if you noticed it, but the previous night when they were all eating together with the lil siblings poot knew what was coming and was giving sad looks to wallace, he probably arranged for the siblings not to be there. the writing of this show might be great, but the acting is 10x better.

The dialogue around this is always fascinating. There are those that side with the street and say that so and so should've did this or that...I would say they are all missing the point that the entire game is rigged, they're all like those bitches on the chess board.

I've agreed with a lot of your takes on The Wire so far, but blaming D'Angelo for Wallace's death is something we can agree to disagree. Sure, he could have done this, done that, but I don't think Wallace's death is his fault *at all*. If anything, he was the one tryna convince Wallace he could be more than what he is out there but the fact that Wallace came back eventually and was basically like "this is all the life I know, this is me here" kinda proves that even if he had told Wallace the truth, it couldn't prevent an outcome like this. Even from my first watch, I was shook with the scene but the only person I blamed was Stringer; the one who ordered the hit in the first place (even if he had a valid reason for ordering the hit or not, he was still the one who ordered the hit). I didn't even blame Bodie and Poot bc, yes, they were friends with Wallace, but they were also simply following orders from someone who could decide the following day if they're gonna die or stay alive (and they're all still young at the end of the day). Also, the "Where's Wallace?" scene by Dee towards the end hits hard to me bc he *knew* Stringer was behind it, but it never felt like he was completely aware of what his uncle or Stringer were capable of FULLY doing until murders like these happen for him to see.

Dee is kind of a princess… he’s related to the king and that comes with privilege but he has no real power. I think he’s making these stupid decisions because he thinks he has pull with Avon. He seems oddly sheltered, I don’t think he’s had to see much of the dark side of his uncle’s business until the witness’s murder at the start of the series. He’s still coming to terms with who Avon is and what he’s willing to do.
