2024-04-11 15:21:17 +0000 UTCI love this movie for many reasons. For one, it is just as fun to rewatch because you are looking for all the clues. If you want to see a very good, disturbing, and well-presented Michael Douglass movie, I highly recommend Falling Down.

Not only did the first 2 Patron movie requests pay me to watch a movie (which I immensely appreciate), but both movies (prisoners and The Game) were so amazing and thrilling, and finally these two movies are movies I probably would never have come across if not for the requests. Again I feel very lucky. I was searching for the best words to describe the movie so when you said "Mind fuck double twist" it clicked for me usually it's only one big twist in these movies. But the way these were handled, and both of them coming back to back, without giving you space to fully digest everything. Phenomenal. I think I enjoyed the second theory more. Breaking him down and helping him relate to others. But I think the one about what his father killed himself also sounds interesting. Part of me wishes that side was explored more, the mystery around his father's death. I guess it's safe to say you have started to discover the types of movies that intrigue me the most. Thanks for requesting this. It was a great time, well except for the times I was losing my mind watching it lol

It was great and this movie took you on a ride just like I thought it would. I always remember when I first watched this in the theater how absolutely shook I was at the ending. My journey was just like yours.... I was excited and intrigued at first because his game seemed kinda scary but playful. That changes quickly as they start to build tension in this movie. That tension just keeps ramping up and up and by the time you get a payoff at the end of the movie, you are just as rattled as the main character. I can't think of another movie that had such a mindfuck double twist as this movie. The first twist pisses you the hell off and then they twist it again leaving you shocked and relieved. The entire movie is an amazing manipulation of the viewer's emotions. As for what the movie means, I really don't know anymore. I originally believed that it was pretty straightforward of 'what do you get the man who has everything?' , with the answer being 'you take it all away and give everything back." But I have since read some other opinions on the subject. A few opinions I've read talk about how the game promised to provide what his life was lacking. Now what was lacking varies... Some people think it was his eternal question of why did his father kill himself and could he himself ever do the same thing. It seems there is some validity to this due to how the game seemed to focus on his father's suicide but my problem with this theory is all they really manage to do is drive Nicholas to suicide. So yes, he was capable of doing it himself, but this certainly doesn't answer why his father did so. Other opinions are that his life was lacking the human connection and the game broke him down to a more human level where he can relate to people like his ex wife and they also show him that the loss of his brother is so devastating that he could take his own life over it. I don't really know what theory is correct... I just know I loved the ride. I'm so glad you made it to the payoff, you definitely seemed uncomfortable for a good bit of the movie but I knew you'd be rewarded for it in the end. Again, great reaction. You don't miss a thing.
