2024-12-28 17:52:29 +0000 UTCIt was the 10-year anniversary of this movie recently, so I came back to rewatch it here! I think it's really Christopher Nolan's best work. The most personal and moving. That planet with the wave/wall of water still terrifies me to this day. It felt so dizzying! The "27 years of messages" scene has the good reputation it deserves. And I actually think that's why Nolan wrote the movie, because it's a metaphor of him going away to make movies! So, I have this theory that the whole thing is just Nolan feeling bad about spending so much time away from his kids, and then turning it into a space epic. But, of you take away the sci-fi elements, it's about a man who is called far away from home to do an important job (make a movie) that can save humanity from itself and shake us from our stupor (like good art does). So he goes away to other worlds that are very different from our own (his imagination) in search for a way to bring hope to humanity. It's all complicated and full of technical problems, and people fighting for different interests (like a film shooting usually is), but he tries his best. For him, this feels like a couple of months, but back home, his children grow up without him. He misses so many important milestones (their school play, their first tooth, their grades), he maybe can get a zoom call or two. And when he comes back, he is shocked at how much they have grown in his absence. He wishes he could have stayed, but ultimately he's bringing his art to his children and hopes it can help them. And that's the movie!

2024-11-22 13:21:33 +0000 UTCOnce you have the time it's definitely a must see!!!! How are you on gangster movie's? Personally I love them....from the old classics like "scarface" and "the godfather" to the 90s films "goodfellas", "casino" and "donnie brassco" all the way to more modern one's like "the gentleman", "American gangster" and "black mass"..... let me know if you like the genre and if you've seen any and any I haven't mentioned. Take care
