The saying "good things come to those who wait" definitely applies to today's post, which has been about eight months in the making!

In fact, so much time has passed since our initial contact, I can't remember exactly how I first connected with Eric G Brown Photography. I'm pretty sure he reached out to me on Model Mayhem and then we corresponded by email before any plans for a photo shoot materialized. Usually, I like to try to get a feel for a photographer's demeanor and personality in addition to reviewing their work before proceeding with plans to collaborate.

There are quite a few photographers who are interested in what is called "urban exploration" or "urbex." Defined as "exploration of structures, usually abandoned ruins or hidden components of the manmade environment," this practice, when combined with photography, usually yields hauntingly beautiful, dystopian-like imagery. Some photographers choose to shoot just the empty spaces themselves, while others opt to incorporate models into the frame and elevate the visuals to another level. Eric G Brown is one of the latter.

A photography enthusiast since a young age, Eric is based in Arlington, Virginia and works with models up and down the East Coast. Specializing in natural landscapes, historical documentation of urban environments, and portraiture, the unique quality of Eric's work impressed me and I was instantly drawn to his ability to capture the way light interacts with a subject. It didn't take long for me to decide to work with him, and I had a feeling our time together, and the what we would create, would truly be something special.

To say this shoot ended up being a one of a kind experience is an understatement. Although definitely challenging at times, at least in terms of modeling difficulty, it was an unforgettable experience and one that I have been looking forward to sharing with you for a long time. I have plenty more content to post, both in terms of photos as well as the stories behind them, so make sure to check back soon for the next installment!
