The Heart — The Human Gate of Love and Wisdom

Hey guys! More practices from my upcoming book. I hope you enjoy!!!

_____________

Mystics of varying traditions will praise different parts of the subtle anatomy as the pinnacle of consciousness. Focus on the third eye, some say, for it grants psychic insight. Others insist awareness should rise to the crown and dissolve into cosmic unity. Some point toward the navel — the seat of personal power and miraculous capacity. Others champion the underworld gates and the primal forces found there.

None of them are wrong. But as the Ecstatic Path champions the sacredness of the human experience, its natural focal point is the center of the chest, where the energetic heart resides. Here, right at the base of the sternum, is the meeting point of the lower, more earthy energy centers and the higher, more ethereal ones. It is where sky and soil join, where animal and divine meet. Namely: the human. We are beings of heaven and earth — connected to both but fully of neither.

Many esoteric traditions agree that the human realm is the most sacred realm to be born into, for here we can touch all others. We are not so heavenly that we forget pain, nor so earthly that we are blind to wonder. We feel fully. We learn deeply. And we create reality through our choices. Life becomes what we will it to be.

It is said that souls incarnated in the highest, most luminous astral realms are not the most fortunate — they can be so close to Source, so nearly dissolved into oneness, that they can forget the struggle that grows depth and compassion. Likewise, the lowest vibratory realms can become so entangled in illusion that they forget Spirit entirely.

But humans — blessed humans — witness both. We walk the middle path.

Some traditions say that enlightenment is most accessible here, because this is where opposites meet. And yet those same traditions often speak of abandoning humanness, treating embodiment as a limitation — a too-tight skin to be discarded. They miss the revelation: to be human is to be given the fullest spectrum of experience. Messy, beautiful, imperfect — and holy.

This is why Ecstatic Path walkers are encouraged to focus on the heart. It is the meeting place of all. It is where our soul most clearly resides — our truest inner home. Here we feel transcendent love, communion with every being we have ever touched, and the subtle vehicle that carries consciousness across lifetimes — the merkaba, the blue pearl, the bindu, the radiant star within the chest.

Here we can commune with ancestors, guides, and our own most complete Self. Here joy, bliss, devotion, and compassion bloom into forms that change lives. The heart is the portal to our vastness. Some teachings say we only bring a small portion of our full soul force into the body — the heart is where we can open the door to the rest of who we are.

Time bends here. Past and future selves become neighbors. You can travel backward to give the child-you what they needed. You can rewrite your past, resolve old wounds, and give yourself the love and support you never had. You can borrow wisdom from the future-you who has already healed. You can gather every fragmented version of yourself into a single, coherent wholeness.

Time isn’t linear. Science actually shows that future actions can affect what we know and achieve now—retrocausality research. Studies in quantum cognition suggest that the mind is not fully bound to the present — memories and learning appear fluid across time. Studying after a test is already taken can improve results because the mind isn’t 100% located in this so-called “present.”

The gateway of the heart is vast and luminous. A great saint once said, “The heart is the hub of all holy places. Go there and roam.” Everything you need for your spiritual journey can be found there. Ancient cultures knew this:

Modern science is quietly affirming what mystics declared long ago: the heart is intelligent. It contains neural cells — a “little brain” — that processes information that never makes it to the brain. This is why we feel intense emotions like grief, love, heartbreak, longing in our chest—it is literally being experienced there.

The heart’s electromagnetic field is the strongest in the body, spreading out in a toroidal shape like Earth’s magnetosphere, extending several feet beyond the limits of our skin. Joy and grief can actually reshape the heart—“broken heart syndrome” (Takotsubo cardiomyopathy), in which emotional loss changes the organ’s anatomy for a period of time.

It is the seat of these beautifully human, complex emotions. The ones that make us so grateful for this embodied experience. For when we feel unconditional love, deep satisfaction, embodied bliss…we are home. It is our very center. It is the place we return to again and again. So…let us go home.

Sit tall or recline and breathe easily. Envision that in the center of your chest is a glowing flower made of light. As in a previous exercise, with each inhale, feel it blooming bigger. With each exhale, let it shine brighter.

After a few breaths, feel yourself descending into the stem of the flower. Sink through the petals, past the stamen, and deep down into the stem. Feel yourself going further and further into the depths of your heart. Deeper and deeper.

Eventually, you arrive into a space of pregnant nothingness — the void, some traditions call it. A place of potential, waiting. But the void is only a transition point. Go further. Keep going.

And in its depths, see a pinprick of light growing. It’s you, sitting in lotus posture, made entirely of radiant consciousness. Allow it to grow bigger in your vision. Merge with it. Let it become you. This is the “you” past all your limitations. This is the timeless, full you containing all your power. Envision yourself: brilliant, wise, whole, healed. You are vast and eternal.

Feel cords of light running from you toward countless figures in the distance — people that you’ve loved, family and friends, ancestors, even other versions of yourself. Feel yourself as part of a vast web of interconnected being-ness. Notice how every one of those forms are also you — in a different form, in a different body. Love is all there is. Everything is the same consciousness loving itself.

Love is all. Love is everything. You are a being of love. That is all there ever was.

When you’ve spent as much time here as you wish, come back — like you’re zooming out… rushing back, back, back. Coming back to your heart, to your body, to yourself here and now.

Feel that nourishment and that love. Feel yourself here and now — a you that has always been and will always be love personified. Be here with your full self now.
