A practice to open the portal in the perineum

Hey guys... here's what I am working on today in my upcoming book, Ecstaticism. I thought you'd enjoy!

The Root Gate — Descent into the Primal Realms

Certain areas of the energetic body are described as portals to other realms of consciousness. The bottom of the pelvis is one such gateway. Located in the center of the perineum—between the anus and the genitals—this vortex opens into a realm of primordial, earthy, potent energies.

This is the entrance to the lower realms—not lower as in lesser or hellish, but ancient, hidden, and deep. A place of caves where dragons sleep, underground rivers where nagas dwell and hoard their magic, where animal spirits who guided our ancestors still roam. It is a realm for healing, instinct, strength, and guidance from forces older than humanity.

The base energy center is the first to form in the womb and the last to dim at death. Many traditions call it the Gate of Life and Death—the passage into embodiment and the tunnel back to the unseen.

Here, consciousness is elemental and instinctual. Language exists as sensation rather than thought. If the upper centers reach outward and upward, this one reaches downward and inward—to the root of creation.

Cultures across the world have named this portal:

• Tantra calls it Muladhara, guarded by the coiled kundalini serpent and linked to the naga realm

• Hinduism places Ganesha here—the Earth guardian who removes obstacles and opens paths

• Daoist alchemy calls it Huiyin, the threshold between Heaven and Earth

• Shamanic traditions identify it as the entrance to the Lower World, home to power animals and deep soul retrieval

• Pre-Celtic mysteries knew it as the passage into the Sídhe, where the Tuatha Dé Danann—shining folk of stone and soil—are said to now reside

Different languages, same truth: this is the portal to the primal realms—the world beneath worlds.

When consciousness descends through this gate, one may encounter beast-guides, serpents and dragons, earth elementals, deities with antlers or hooves—forces that are neither symbolic nor imaginary, but the psyche’s living roots.

This is not a realm of darkness in a moral sense — only that it is deeper than rational thought, older than language, more feral than the world we walk each day. We go there to restore vitality, reclaim instinct, heal ancient survival wounds, retrieve lost power, and connect with Earth’s intelligence. It is also where we meet guardians who teach us how to hold power wisely.

To enter, sit with your hips touching the earth (or as close as you can). Breathe slowly and deeply, and imagine yourself sinking from your head into your throat, descending into your chest, then into your belly, and gently down into the pelvic basin. When your attention reaches the bottom of your torso, become aware of a circular sensation at the center of the perineum — a pulse, a tingling, perhaps a pressure or warmth. Beyond this point lies not emptiness but depth: the fertile darkness of rich soil, hidden underground aquifers, roots threading their way down, crystal caves beneath continents.

Once you sense that threshold… descend. The movement may feel like a spiral staircase, a slow elevator, or a feather swaying downward on a current. You might experience flashes of imagery — the scent of moss, the shimmer of scales, a flicker of glowing eyes watching in the dark. Let sensation lead. You are not imagining — you are remembering how to perceive what the mind has forgotten.

When you feel you have arrived, pause and breathe. Allow the environment to take shape around you. Then, with respect and clarity, whisper inwardly: If a guide wishes to assist me, please come. Wait patiently. Something — someone — will approach: a wolf padding out of the shadows, a serpent uncoiling before you, antlers gleaming in torchlight, a dragon’s slow and ancient gaze. Follow without judgment. Let the journey unfold.

Your guide may lead you into old memories that need repair, into an event from another lifetime, into dialogue with archetypal powers, or into sacred landscapes that hold the medicine you require. Trust what comes. Ask for support or clarity if needed. If you need to ask for another guide or to be shown anything additional, feel free to do so. If you receive something, offer something in return—envision offering your gift-givers food, drink, or something you sense they would desire.

When the experience feels complete, thank the guide again, then follow the same path back upward. Whatever paths you walked to get to where you are, retrace them. It’s important to follow the same roads out as you took in. Then, float up the same way you lowered down—rising through the pelvis, into the belly, and finally coming to rest in the center of the chest. Sit in stillness as your body integrates what was retrieved.

This realm deserves reverence, not conquest. Move slowly. Do not demand or command. Let gratitude precede every request. These beings and forces are not props for spiritual tourism; they are sovereign intelligences with their own purposes and laws. Offer respect, and a relationship will form. Over time, this portal becomes a source of grounding that cannot be shaken — a stable, fierce power that rises from the earth itself. It teaches courage, instinct, and the wisdom of embodied life.

Spirituality is not only ascension. Light rises best from a body that has rooted deep into the dark, fertile ground of being. To soar into the heavens, we must first descend into our own depths. Only those who know the underworld of the psyche can rise without losing themselves in the sky. When you befriend the night beneath your feet, the cosmos above becomes truly accessible.

Descend to strengthen your roots.

Comments

My soul wants to sore through the astral plains. After reading this, I realize how important it is that I am grounded, rooted in the Earth, being one with the Earth so that my soul can travel and know where to return. As always, Kae this is beautiful.

Very nice explanation. That would be a lovely idea for a live class
