Poll for next story! (EDITED!)
Added 2023-08-09 20:51:15 +0000 UTCApologies, it seems that I was overzealous in my posting and forgot to include the intended fourth option of 'Other'.
This just means if that none of the listed stories appeal to you, you can choose this option and I will submit other ideas.
As the Poll had begun, I will comment 'Other' in the comment section. Just like that comment if it is your choice.
Again, you have my apologies.
It has been difficult to narrow down the choices this time around, but I have no doubt you will enjoy each of these in the HP universe.
As it was close between TRL and Veteran the last time around, I have included it again for consideration.
Do comment below your thoughts on these and any suggestions you may have.
As ever, I am humbly grateful for the support I receive here. Were it not for each of you, I wouldn't be where I am now.
Choose wisely...

Avalon (Rated M for Violence, Language, Gore, and other topics reader’s may find disturbing)
Peering across the crashing waves from Tintagel, he read the stars through the murky clouds above. It was here he had learned that a new King would come, one that would lead the people to triumph against those that had crushed them beneath their heel…
Arthur…the one true King of the land…
Myrddin could not fathom what it was that had brought him here once more. He knew that trial and tribulation would be forthcoming in the pursuit of peace, that treachery was afoot to see the world he would forge never be so…
‘The lightning,’ he murmured. ‘The sorcerer yet to come…he who defies Death…’
He narrowed his eyes as snatched glimpses of battles past before them, of the King yet to be crowned, of a faceless man who stood defiantly before Myrddin; the one who would see his efforts bear no fruit.
It could not be.
Myrddin had not toiled so to allow any to stand in his way. Arthur would be King in name, yet it would be Myrddin to guide him towards the world Myrddin envisioned, a world he would carefully mould using the hands of the boy born to Uther and Igraine’s coming together.
Through trickery, sorcery, and his own design, he would see his vision brought to life.
He had laid down his pieces long ago, and now, it was time to witness how his machinations would play out.
Though the stars were ominous, and the froing waves unsettling, his own movement and guidance of all around him caused him no pause.
The sword would be drawn, the new King would claim his throne, and Merlin would enjoy the fruits of his labour for the years to follow. Not even the stars above nor the sea below Tintagel would stand in the way of what was to come.
‘Beware the lightning…of he who defies Death…’
Myrddin merely frowned.
If the stars and seas could not prevent what was to be, how could one man hope to?
Harry Potter/Arthurian Legend crossover with a mixture of politics, war, turbulent romances and an exploration of a slew of new characters.
There will be those you recognise from the HP series (The founders and other recognisable names.)
I don’t want to give too much away but when you have magic and medieval-esque warfare coming together, characters who are neither good nor inherently evil, it makes for quite the interesting story…
It will be Harry/Morgana and I will be liberal with ages etc as I see fit.
Veteran – (Rated M for gore, disturbing and adult scenes and themes)
Pairing: Harry/Andromeda
Rating: M
The war had not gone to plan. How could it have when there was no plan to begin with?
Even when all was said and done and Harry managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, life did not treat him any kinder.
As a 20-year old-veteran, he had tried to make do with his lot, tried to move on from the horrors of war, but he couldn’t.
Those he cared for had moved on with their lives whereas Harry found himself stuck in a rut, alone and apathetic to the world around him.
He never wanted plaudits nor even gratitude for what he had done and all he had sacrificed, he merely wished to be left alone.
That would not happen here.
Deciding that there was nothing for him to lose, he decided to follow in the footsteps of his godfather, only to find himself in a new yet familiar world, though faces of the dead that haunted him were very much alive here.
Harry arrives in the early 1970s, tired of life and tired of war, but can he truly avoid the inevitable as it once more rears its ugly head?
A/N
This is not fully canon compliant and will use flashbacks to explain events of Harry’s past as the story progresses.
This Harry is already hardened by war, heartbreak, and loss, so do not expect a happy-go-lucky protagonist.
It will be quite dark in places and contain several adult themes throughout.
Although there may be some similarities in setting to SB and WOAR, this is a very different story to both.
Don’t Mind Me (AU – Rated M)
“Fix him!” the Dark Lord demanded.
Unable to ignore the bitterness he felt towards Potter, Draco could not pass up the opportunity to positively identify him when he’d been brought to his home along with Granger and Weasley.
The Dark Lord wasted no time in killing the latter two, but he was not so merciful to Harry Potter…
Astoria Greengrass refused to marry Draco, despite her father having signed a contract for her. It had taken the death of her sister for him to cave to the pressure by Lucius Malfoy, though she knew it should have been Daphne here instead.
Daphne had been the preferred daughter, after all, but having sacrificed herself to save Astoria, what choice was there?
For months, Astoria had been here, listening to the comings and goings of the Death Eaters and even the Dark Lord.
She wouldn’t profess to know much of the outside world, but it had undoubtedly changed. As much as Potter was being kept a prisoner, she was too. If she had been here for only months, it must have been a year or two that Potter had arrived, perhaps more.
Astoria remembered when all had been lost.
St Mungo’s, where she had been training as a Mind Healer had been taken. The disappearances of prominent members of the resistance increased, and many turned up, labelled as dissenters.
The world had changed in a matter of months, and those who could had simply kept their heads down.
Not that it was enough for Atoria.
“How am I supposed to fix him?” she whispered sadly at the sight of the broken man chained in the dungeon.
“You have been taught the Mind Arts, have you not? Fix him or you will join him. You are not fit to be the Lady Malfoy, so we will make use of you in other ways.”
Astoria swallowed deeply.
She had always been weak because of the curse that plagued her, and having learned of it, Lucius Malfoy had changed his mind about her marrying his son. It was the only mercy the curse had granted her in life.
She had laughed when they had learned of her curse, though it had died in her throat when the violent spells had struck her.
Now, she was of no value, but a slave to the whims of those that kept her captive.
Draco smirked at her as he followed the Dark Lord and Lucius from the dungeon, leaving her alone with the unmoving Harry Potter.
Were it not for the shallow rising and falling of his chest, she would have thought him dead.
“Fix him,” she whispered, shaking her head.
She was gifted in the Mind Arts, but if Potter had been broken by the Dark Lord, even the best practitioner in the world couldn’t hope to put him back together.
“Legilimens.”
Astoria could not possibly know what she had let herself in for before she’d muttered that fated word, nor the journey she would be taken in a world as broken as the man’s mind she found herself within.
This will be a post-Hogwarts story with Harry and Astoria being close to twenty-one and twenty respectively.
It will not be fully canon compliant and changes will be explained as the story unfolds.
This will very much be a Harry facing the odds in a world where Voldemort has already seemingly won the war. Again, this will be dark in places and comes with the usual warnings.

Since it looks like Don't Mind Me was a distant 3rd, can we re-do the poll with just the top 2 options? It was close enough that the outcome might be different if it was narrowed to just the two.

2023-08-18 03:37:52 +0000 UTCFrom the choices, I liked Avalon the most. It’s a change of pace from the usual timelines, during a time of knights and kings and Hogwarts’ first founding, and it sounds soo interesting. It even has its own ‘For the Greater Good’ Dumbles in Merlin. ‘Veteran’ and ‘Don’t mind me’ still sound pretty attractive, but out of all your fics, I’ve honestly been hooked to your ASOIAF world. So much so that I’ve even read the posted chapters 3 times already. More than anything else, I wish there were more weekly chapter of ‘Sword of the Winter Rose’ to read! Either way, thanks for the great stories.
