Soul Mirror: FIRST DRAFT: Ch.03 The Soul Mirror
Added 2024-09-24 13:00:07 +0000 UTCAlex sealed the last box with tape in the first storage room and he grimaced when that pain in his back returned from this morning. It was pulsating and throbbing in pain and his stomach started to feel tight.
'Grrr! This damn pain it's going to ruin my night out. Oh, god, what I wouldn't give to be laid up in bed right now, resting my back and stomach, instead of having to finish this job,' Alex thought as he stretched and his stomach made a loud growling sound.
'Oh, and I'm also hungry. But, at least after I finish here, Mark promised to get me food... A-And maybe he can crack my back again... God, he's so strong, and he can massage me... That would be really nice... GAH! IN A FRIEND WAY!!' Alex thought as his cheeks flushed.
He felt his heart beating faster, and his crotch tingled.
"Shit!? I need to find a girlfriend and get laid or something. I need to think about something else... Oh, yeah! Mr. Yousuf said that I needed to clear out another storage room, too. I better pack up the stuff there first before I start filling up the making container," Alex said to himself.
Alex sighed and rubbed his aching back as best as he could, but it was in a spot that he couldn't quite reach.
"Man, maybe Mark is right about going to the gym. Shit, he probably is able to bench-press me at this moment... A-And it would help get rid of this back pain. I would get a stronger core and back muscles, which would also help build my muscle mass. Yeah, then maybe I can get a chick... Haah... Hindsight's 20/20... Alright, enough lollygagging. I need to hurry up and finish here. I wonder where the other storage room is," Alex wondered out loud as he got up and made his way to the door.
Once in the hallway, Alex forgot how creepy the place was when all the lights were off, and he was alone in a big mansion. There were a few doors and a long winding stairwell, and Alex could hear a wolf howling again.
'Shit, this is creepy... Gah! Get ahold of yourself, dude!? The other storage room must be one of those doors. Quit being a dumbass and finish the job,' Alex thought.
Alex started opening the doors, and they were old and dusty, with cobwebs and spiders.
'Damn, Is this the other storage room? Fuck, what time is it? I can't believe that it's taking this long to pack up a few old antiques. At this rate, I'm going to have to stay here overnight, and the thought of being stuck with that old prick makes me want to hurl. Let's just check it out and see if it's the right place, and if not, I'll call it quits and deal with the old man later.'
Alex turned the dusty door knob and opened the door. There were no windows, so Alex used his phone's flashlight. There were boxes stacked up on one side of the room, and on the other side, there was a small desk with a few books and a painting hanging above it. There was a standup mirror that had a sheet draped over it.
'Where's the light switch? I can't see jack shit,' Alex thought as he scanned the walls of the darkroom and found the old push button light switch and flicked it on.
'Ah! Finally, light. Now, let's see what I have here. Hopefully, this is the last thing I have to pack and move out,' Alex thought as he turned to see what he needed to pack up. This room didn't have as much stuff in it, but it did have knives, swords, and a few daggers with strange engravings.
There were a few paintings that Alex was pretty sure were stolen from the Louvre, a few statues, and some old books and papers.
"Well... It's similar crap. But luckily, there's less of it. Oh, hey?... What's going on with the frame of that mirror," Alex asked as he turned and pointed his phone's light on the covered mirror.
'That's a strange engraving on the wood of the mirror. It's kind of creepy. It almost looks like a demon or something.'
The wood or metal frame of the mirror looked like something H.R. Giger or a Lovecraftian creature would have drawn, with all of the grooves and bumps. The frame was an obsidian black color, and it seemed to have an odd shine to it.
'Damn... This would make for an awesome Halloween decoration. I wonder what it looks like under the sheet. It must be some really expensive mirror. Probably an antique,' Alex thought as they pulled off the sheet to reveal the whole mirror. There wasn't anything out of the ordinary when Alex's reflection came into view, and the college boy admired the mirror—everything except his reflection.
"Damn... Look how scrawny I've gotten... Well, that's what I get for slacking off at the gym," Alex said.
After a minute of looking at himself, the pain in his stomach and back flared up and made him grimace again.
"Dammit... I better get moving again. So I can get out of here. Might as well put this sheet back on. Now, where did I toss it," Alex said.
The college boy was looking for the sheet when he saw it on the ground near his feet.
'Oh, there it is,' Alex thought as he leaned over to pick up the sheet and braced himself against the mirror.
As soon as the college boy touched the mirror, the pain in his back surged up to his left shoulder, then through his arm and into his fingertips. A sigil on the back side of the mirror started glowing a soft white color, and the symbols carved into it began to glow and pulse.
"Gah!?... Damn static electricity, what the hell!?... Oh, man... Huh?... My back?... It feels... Better?... It doesn't hurt anymore," Alex whispered as he stretched his back.
'It's still a little sore, but not like it was... I must have been more tired than I thought... Maybe I should take care of this mirror last, or I need to wear gloves. This static shock really stings,' Alex thought as he rubbed his hand, and the pain subsided.
Alex looked around and saw a wooden crate in the middle of the room that looked like it was meant to transport paintings. He found his gloves on the floor, quickly put them on, carefully picked up a painting, and gently placed it in the crate.
As the college boy was busy packing up the room, the mirror showed two ghostly figures appearing in the reflection. They were the twins Yasmina and Zaynab.
Yasmina's hair was golden blonde. With her perfect cheekbones, thin lips, and green eyes, she had the appearance of a supermodel.
Zaynab had black hair and hazel eyes and looked like he belonged on the cover of a fitness magazine.
The twins were a beautiful sorceress from the distant past and were betrayed by their apprentice. He took them hostage and locked them away in the Soul Mirror for thousands of years.
They looked puzzled at first, but when they saw the red-headed 22-year-old college student packing away the items and placing them into the box, they realized that someone had found the Soul Mirror, and this boy had magic running through his body.
'What is this?' Yasmina spoke to her brother telepathically.
'Are savor... But we shouldn't kill him,' Zaynab responded.
'But we need a new body to live in.'
'I know... Hmm?... I have an idea, sister. This should work out for all parties involved. Follow my lead, okay?' Zaynab asked his sister.
'Alright, brother, but let's hurry before our savor gets away from us.'
'I agree. This should work. Now let's get to it, sister,' Zaynab said. They both focused on the boy, and they interacted with Alex's body in the reflection world.
