2025-12-02 15:01:40 +0000 UTCI am a pain in the ass to complement because unless it is an overt objective compliment like "You are strong" which I freely accept: I don't deny compliments I redirect them so getting gently but directly called on that would make me both feel actually seen and that the compliment is fully meant since the redirect was noticed and challenged. As for a gift, I am the sort that remembers things so when I care about someone I tend to get them something they forgot they said they wanted or something that they never said they wanted but their interests say they would. So rather than it being a specific thing a line like "you might not remember but you mentioned that you wanted it but couldn't justify getting it for yourself, so I did!" or "I chose it when I remembered how you lit up talking about your hobbies so I snooped a bit and you didn't have it which meant I could get it for you," hits that sweet spot since it isn't a specific thing that makes me feel that way but that I was listened to and it was remembered that makes me melt.
