The Button against the world
Added 2025-04-29 11:44:21 +0000 UTCLt. Richard “Dick” Flanagan and Cpt. Dave “Dog” Johnson were Air Force fighter jocks with a problem. They were in love. A secret that could destroy both of them in the 1960s USAF.
While walking on the beach lamenting his problem, Dave came across a sea turtle tangled in a net. He freed the turtle and it changed into a beautiful woman holding an apple.
For freeing me, I will grant you one wish.
Dave wished he had a button that he could press and be in love with a woman rather than a man so they could express their love and not destroy their lives.
Eris smiled, the apple changed into a small box with a button on top.
Press that button, and your lover will change sex. The world will only remember the new reality so your lives will not be destroyed.
Dave and Dick talked it over. Dave had a shot at the space program so Dick agreed to become dickless for his love.
Rita Flanagan became Ritta Johnson when they married a year later. She resigned her USAF commission and became a full time housewife and mother for her Astronaut hero husband.
