Lina Backstage preview and production fact!

Hello my Sweethearts!

I’m very glad to “see” you once again! New day, fresh me, breathtaking you and some good looking photos. Pretty awesome company in my opinion. )
How are you? How is the weather at your place? I personally can’t wait to see nature going green. Seeing naked trees makes me feel a bit unsettle.
Time to show some more photos from the Lina’s backstage. I hope, it’s interesting to see how it looks from the “inside”.
I prepared “production fact” for you, and it is about equipment.
It wouldn’t be that noticeable for my friends who specialize in different fields of work ( not in photography/filming), but we were able to get wide angle lens for this photoshoot. To be precise we got our hands on 15-35mm 2.8 RF mount lens. Previously I tried only first version of same angle lens, but on EF mount.
Side info:
RF is the type of mount used on mirrorless R-series full-frame Canon cameras. EF is the mount widely used for digital mirror full-frame cameras. You can use EF lenses on mirrorless cameras with the help of adapter. For example, we use our 50mm 1.4 lens this way. If you ask me, do I see any signs of poor performance, there is none. Except, it works slower. The hardest thing was to find adapter at the moment and not overpriced. Technically adapter we needed is just adapter without any electronics in it, and it already cost around 150$. Luckily we got ours from photographer, who just gave it for free.

Anyway, this wide RF lens is pure gold. Crisp, fast, precise. Only downside might be it’s weight – about 850 grams. You get veeery tired at the end of the shooting session wielding 1,5 kg. One handed swords weighed around the same. I don’t know why I came up with this analogy, maybe because most of my friends here are strong men. )

Ok, weight is not its downside. You can get buff with it, so it can be considerate as training. Downside is its price. Veeery high.
Due to war conflict, prices on goods in Russia have risen drastically. And during first days it was hysteria. People were buying out everything they could get before stores started to shut down. And of course before national currency’s value dropped. Many of those stores reopened later with higher prices (readjusting to new currency value and trading situation), so people tried to get anything with old prices.
We happened to find lens by the old price, and since we were saving up for it for two years, it sounded like logical move to invest in said lens. Not exactly this lens, but in general.
Few days later price of the lens has doubled! It was gut wrenching to realize, how fast your hard earned money can become just paper. And how near you were…

After telling all this we finally got to “production fact”. Here it is!
You might noticed from backstages, we used ONLY portrait 50mm lenses for our projects so far. The reason is very simple too. Money. BUT. Everything looks good on such lenses (especially if it has beautiful bokeh – that blured unfocused part of photo ) and just suit our style. How convenient? )
Having new camera for year already, I came to conclusion, that it’s a waste not to get different lenses for our projects. It almost feels like work with restrictions.

After shooting our projects with only certain prime lenses, we needed time to get used to not only wider angle, but also adjustable. I almost forgot how much space is on 15mm. Not only this, but I forgot the feel, when you can actually stay at one place without moving around. When you can change from 15mm to 35mm and back, your perspective shifts. )
No matter how fun it’s to shoot on wide angle, there lies big “BUT”. The wider angle the more perspective get distorted. You probably saw photoshoots, where people had extremely long legs and big feet. Or unexpectedly huge head. )
It’s very tricky to find right angle, and if you didn’t get used to working like that, there might be mistakes. Basically it is double edged sword, or tool that should be used when only needed.
Also these lenses is the source of big butts of many erotic models. Natural way to get something bigger without too many adjustments later on retouch, hehe. )

What do you think? Was it interesting?

Next time I’ll come back with fresh update from Lina’s project.
Have a great day!
