This is a recording of a lecture-style panel I hosted at the University of Victoria as part of Tsukino-Con; the university's Anime & Japanese Culture Convention.
The Lecture covers Monster Hunter's Lore and why I consider the symbolic metaphors of Monster Hunter's world and narrative more valuable than the actual lore details.

2025-02-22 22:51:11 +0000 UTCThis was a great listen. I noticed a lot of time was spent reviewing how little specific detail there is over in universe lore. Dark Souls is another series known for having a vague storyline that makes no effort to reach the player. Yet, people react so differently to these separate franchises. What does mh do differently from dark souls regarding storytelling and lore, and why do general audiences have such different outlooks on them?
