Background?

I'm trying to make a nice banner/background for some of my social media, but i just can't stop making more and more of these little sketches-things. One of them, surely, is good. That's where you come in. I want you to tell me which ones you think looks the nicest. Disclaimer: In the end ,I may actually not choose the one that wins the poll. i just want to know which one you like because currently i really can't decide myself. I may even make more.

B and B2 are basically the same idea, just one more polished than the other
Same goes for I and I2

Thank you for such in depth thoughts!

J - I like J, and like how it has a much different vibe than most of the others. The forest feels more friendly and less 'wild', and the character looks more relaxed and less "batman broody". I do feel that the dutch tilt takes away from it, however. It adds an unstable action-y feel to an otherwise peaceful composition. It's kind of like my anxiety, which adds an unstable feeling to my otherwise peaceful life :)

^^^^ Oh and it should be said, however, that your character feels VERY lonely in this one. Could be intentional, as it usually is with these kinds of shots, but definitely something you should know :)

I2 is actually awesome. The scale feels massive and I feel like I'm looking at a xenoblade screenshot. It does struggle with the same problems as its first iteration (left foreground too heavy, too much weight on the left side), and expands it by making everything feel like it's slumping off to the right. Very imposing though, great for storytelling 10/10

Tadpole

^^^^ Actually scratch that, I realized that the issue isn't that the background statue element is too centered (it's actually in a great spot), it's that the foreground framing element on the left is too heavy. So I'd recommend easing up on that.

I - Struggles with the reverse issue that A had, in that there's too much visual weight on the left side and too much empty space on the right. I'd recommend shifting the background element (statue? giant imp titan? shrine?) just a little to the left to balance out the framing.

Tadpole

H - Overall I feel this is the weakest one, composition-wise. The concept is very cool, but I had to zoom in in order to figure out what was going on at all. Once again, very very cool concept, but I would recommend making more iterations on the composition if you pursue this one.

G - This is interesting because it does the same thing that A was going for, but a lot better. The details in the background are a lot more interesting, and with the clouds to the left, it helps with taking care of that empty space that A struggled with. Overall I like this one and it really captures a feeling of wistfulness and looking off into the sky.

Tadpole

F - Overall it has less of a magical element to the background, and while I believe zooming in on the character is helpful for defining them clearer, we also lose the sense of scale which is so enticing about the others.

E - This feels like a great storyboard for an establishing shot--of which more information will follow in the next shot--which is why I feel that it doesn't hold up so great on its own. We see the cave first and see that it's inhabited (I think??), and ask ourselves who lives there, before finally noticing the character in the background. Our visual order of operations goes Cave First-->A Lot of Other Things-->The Character. It can work in some situations, but I don't think it does here.

D - Another great one; I feel that the composition is interesting and balanced. My one gripe is that the character does not stand out as much in this one, and feels more like they are part of the environment. Once again, perhaps not a bad thing if that's what you were going for, but it seems like the character is supposed to be the focal point of most of these others.

Tadpole

C - Overall it tries to accomplish what B did, but B just does it better. A little too simple, and a little too symmetrical compared to the others. However, it does have this cool "spirally" feel to the composition, which could help you if you were going for a much more magical mystical feel to the piece.

Tadpole

B - This is one of my favorites (and it looks like I'm not alone), and not because it was colored. The composition and visual weight of each element feels balanced, there are many layers which give a good sense of depth, and all of it combines together to frame the character perfectly. My one critique would be maybe I would add in just a little something to the foreground element on the far lower right side: maybe a rock or a bush or something, just to balance out the composition more.

Tadpole

A - Okay so this one is a good start but I think it suffers from being a little too simple in composition, as well as having framing issues on the left side. All that empty space on the left side feels a bit unbalanced. Overall I think others do a better job of accomplishing what this was trying to do.

Tadpole

Can I explain my thoughts on the composition of each? You don't have to take my word or anything, but I thought explaining why I choose the ones I like, and why I didn't choose others, might be a bit more helpful? Not a pro or anything, so once again, you don't have to listen to a word I say if you don't want :)

Tadpole

I love the composition for J, but the idea for I is very interesting, but maybe is more of a scene and less of a background in some sense

Nathan Adler

They all look so gorgeous, it's such a tough choice. I'd say J appeals to me most because of the vegetation and the sunbeams make it feel peaceful yet warm. However any of these would be a magnificent banner

Apathy Gremlin

I like E, real yoda's hut vibes

PsyMar

I pick J because the critter looks less lonely. I think it's the positioning of the tail.
